We are seeking a dynamic Occupational Health & Safety Specialist to join our team of professionals working in Philadelphia, PA. Acting as a trusted advisor to various city-wide H&S programs. If the description below sounds like you, Apply Now!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the city-wide occupational health and incident data analyses programs

  • Conduct incident trend analyses and make recommendations for reducing claims

  • Complete ergonomic assessments for a wide variety of exposures

  • Oversee ergonomics, medical emergency response and biohazard programs

  • Implement medical surveillance programs for respirators and bio-hazards

  • Develop and assist to deliver employee training in a wide variety of settings

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A BS in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred

  • Must have functional experience in (4) four of the following programs:

  • Experience and the ability to achieve the PA Bureau of Workers' Compensation Accident and Illness Prevention Provider qualifications

  • Experience with incident data analyses, First Aid/CPR/AED programs, ergonomics and/or biohazard/bloodborne pathogen programs

  • Ergonomics Program & Education

  • Office Ergonomics

  • Materials Handling & Field Ergonomics

  • MSI Medical Management

  • MSI Analysis & Reduction Program

  • Injury Data Reporting & Analysis

  • Driver / Fleet Safety Program, Policies & Education

  • Motor Vehicle Crash Reporting & Analysis

  • Driver License Verification

  • Drug & Alcohol Program

  • Workplace Violence

  • Fall Prevention

  • Special Events/Public Safety

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Must be able to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship

The professional will be supporting sites between Philadelphia, PA to Scranton, PA OR Philadelphia, PA to Harrisburg, PA and has a scheduled duration of about a year. Must be local or willing to relocate to the area for the duration of the project. Majority of the work schedule will be working nights, 6pm-4am EST. Also, may require some weekends. This position performs basic safety and health functions of low to mid-level complexity. Key Responsibilities * Performs drug and alcohol screens in accordance with company substance abuse policies and procedures * Conducts employee safety and health training * Conducts moderately detailed site safety and health inspections * Implements project security programs and procedures * Performs record keeping / filing functions * Conducts incident and injury / illness investigations * Writers detailed injury / illness reports * Completes all appropriate company safety and health program documents * May act as on site first aid provider * Communicates with company's worker's compensations manager * Acts in capacity of a "lead person" * Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction * Directs Safety Intern and Safety and Health Specialist 1 Management Responsibilities Preferred Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent preferred * Safety and health certification, Bachelor's Degree preferred * 2+ years in a construction environment preferred * Experience with underground, horizontal, and directional drilling nice to have * Wireless and/or wireline experience nice to have * Preferred Skills: Knowledge of safety and health standards and practices. Knowledge of company substance abuse policies and procedures. Knowledge of worker's compensation policies and procedures. Ability to perform first aid/medical functions. Communication skills. Word processing and spreadsheet computer software programs. Ability to write detailed reports. Minimum Qualifications 2+ years safety and health experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Certifications BCSP Certification Preferred. First Aid, CPR, Drug testing certified, Safety and Health Program Administration, OSHA 10 nice to have. Work Environment/Physical Demands Physical Demands: * Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds * Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas * See and hear naturally or with correction * Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties * Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure * Requires repetitive movement * May require work above 5 feet in height * Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds * Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions. Work Environment: * Majority of the work schedule will be working nights, 6pm-4am EST. Also, some weekends possible. * Must have a valid driver's license * Typical construction site environment * Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions * Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. * Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions * Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable * Work around hazardous equipment * Typical office environment * This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
