Job Overview and Responsibilities
To provide management, coordination, and clinical care covering all aspects of preventive and interventional occupational health. Responsible for adherence to the Composite Materials Occupational Health nursing procedures and physician standing orders in the execution of all nursing procedures necessary for patient care both in daily clinic visits and medical emergencies. Responsible for coordination of Occupational Health activities at the Solvay Havre de Grace site.
Manage and coordinate occupational health services for location in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
Execute key Occupational Medical or Health processes as required by OSHA, Maryland Law, Solvay Occupational Health, Human Resources and HSE Standards
Provide Case Management/medical restriction-accommodation management/fitness for duty determinations as indicated.
Coordinate Absence Management with Human Resources, Shift and Department Leads and Safety/Health/Environment (HSE).
Provide first aid and coordinate medical treatment related to occupational injury or illness
Coordinate emergency medical attention when needed regardless of work relatedness.
Provide/refer employees for Counseling and Crisis Intervention through our Employee Assistance Program.
Provide Substance Abuse Program Administration and Testing
Participate with HSE in hazard recognition and risk reduction (Risk Assessment Program and Ergonomic Program).
Maintain medical records, along with their privacy and security according legislation and Solvay policies.
Coordinate and perform medical surveillance services for Solvay Composite Materials, Havre de Grace Location.
Support the Solvay Comprehensive Health Program through program awareness and participation. Interface with major vended service providers.
Provide clinical services under the direction of the designated plant physician
Develop and update medical emergency response plan, training together with HSE
Coordinate 1 medical emergency response drills / year.
Education and Experience
R.N., Bachelor's degree or higher, COHN-S, required
Certified Case Manager, desired
5 to 10 years' experience in active nursing practice as occupational health nurse in the U.S., required
Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance with U.S. OSHA (including recordkeeping , first aid, and medical surveillance) required
Direct experience in occupational injury care and clinical case management, required
American Heart Association certification in Basic Life Support, AED, requird
Experience in a unionized manufacturing setting ,a plus
Proficiency with data entry using Microsoft Access and Oracle databases; proficiency with data analysis using Microsoft Excel or equivalent, preferred
Consultation in Ergonomics, a plus
Medical Review Officer Assistant Certification, a plus
Prompt, technically correct decisions and actions based on knowledge of professional occupational health nursing
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal and written media
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply protocols, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
Ability to react calmly and effectively during emergency situations, as well as situations in which others may be reacting with strong emotions or opinions, or lack the capacity to focus
Ability to sense and respond to loss of mental and/or physical wellbeing of employees

Liaison between employee and site management with respect to issues related to attendance due to personal illness, fitness, request for accommodation and/or medical restriction
Create and/or analyze medical data on Microsoft Excel
Ability to communicate clearly and timely with internal stakeholders (HR, SHE, management, shift leads and union representatives) regarding restricted duty, accommodation, and return to work.

Visual Acuity 20/20 or better ( with correction if needed) and Color Discrimination
Normal hearing ( without device)
Respirator Clearance required (N95)
Lifting up to 55 pounds occasionally (related to Emergency Response)

Must have a valid driver's license
No known sensitivity to epoxy resins (preferred)
Experience working in a manufacturing setting
Must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident due to ITAR regulations
Medical Services is located in offices at manufacturing location with occasional visits to accompany employee to urgent care and/or emergency room.
Walks through the manufacturing facility on a regular basis for risk recognition and assessment.
Travel Domestic or International travel once a year is expected for meeting.
