Job Description Primary Responsibility : Provide support and guidance for the facilities and fully meet regulatory compliance such as OSHA, CDC and/or DOH. Responsible for all required audits for all facilities within the assigned region.

Provide Safety and Health related policy training; assist facility management in working with insurers, and support the Safety culture throughout the assigned region. What You’ll Do Execute effective Case Management for the sites and assist management staff in their case management. Ensure associates receive appropriate levels of quality healthcare while maintaining effective cost controls.

Assist Associates with Workers Compensation processes and file/documentation management. Contact treating doctor to clarify diagnosis, prognosis, treatment plan and next appointment. Negotiate appropriate work restrictions and facilitate transitional duty assignments.

Participate in emergency response efforts. Organize first aid training to include AHA CPR/AED/First aid response. Daily interaction with adjusters for workers’ compensation management required.

Refer cases to Nurse Case Managers where appropriate. Attain full duty release when appropriate. Participate in claims reviews with site management team, representatives from Risk Management Department, Third Party Administrator Claims Adjustors and Broker to reduce the costs and frequency of Workers Compensation claims.

Identify opportunities for case reductions. Serve as Corporate Representative for litigated cases upon request of Risk Management or outside counsel in cases related to emergency response procedures, worker’s compensation, and non-subscriber claims. Report monthly and quarterly regional statistics to include WC case numbers, cost per claim and TRIR.

Train and support the site management team on preparing budget. Identify and evaluate fee schedule negotiations for local medical services to ensure effective pricing and continuity of medical care for employees. (HAZMAT, PCT, Testing) Review OSHA and medical records to ensure continuity and compliance across the company. Track and trend causation to minimize loss and improve the BBS program.

Adhere to the Nurse Practice Act. Maintain HIPPA compliance and educate on privacy rights. Educate associates on common health concerns, medication effects per PDA, and provide resources.

Screen associates with health concerns and refer personal medical issues identified to human resources. Assist the sites in managing OSHA inspections related to occupational health areas to include recordkeeping. Identify leading indicators to assist Safety in implementing preventative measures through ergonomic projects or administrative controls to reduce loss.

Coordinate with Site and Corporate QA and Production personnel on medical issues related to USDA food safety requirements and customer audits. Serve as the Drug and Alcohol program resource for respective regional site locations. Perform the medical element of the Safety and Health Management Systems audit.

Supervise Occupational Health staff at the respective sites within licensed states. Direct company efforts in response to State Department of Health investigations to include pandemic response CA-MRSA, tuberculosis outbreaks, and general public health awareness. Provide support to site and corporate safety staff by conducting trend analysis of work related incidents at the individual locations.

Maintain Software for AED/First Aid Registry/Corporate SharePoint. Partner with the Benefits Leave Specialist on FMLA/ADA leaves. Other projects and duties as requested.

What Experience And Education You Need Current RN licensure/certification in application location 5 years experience as RN 3 years minimum in occupational health Minimum 2 year’s direct management Experience with worker’s compensation BLS certification required COAHC certification is a plus Strong overall computer skills required, (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project are required) Solid practical and demonstrated understanding of OSHA program and DOH/CDC programs What Could Set You Apart Experience with development, management and administration of regulatory compliance and safety systems across numerous locations. Strong organizational skills are mandatory with the ability to deploy programs company wide Project management skills required to keep projects on target Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization Solid decision making skills utilizing sound judgment Quality Assurance experience is a plus Must be self-motivated with high degree of initiative Uphold Nursing Code of Ethics Ability to be available telephonically 24/7 for triage calls 20 to 30% travel, mostly within assigned region Physical Requirements The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
