Position Description/Overview:

Responsibilities:

  • Play active role in best in class medical facility

  • Provide leadership in delivering compassionate, competent care

  • Process Clinical Records

  • Process Medical Leaves of Absence

  • Process Short Term Medical Absences (return to work from short term absence)

  • Open, extend and close medical leaves

  • Conduct Medical Examinations

  • Conduct Fitness-for-Duty

  • Process RTW from medical leave absence

  • Process Reinstatement

  • Conduct Medical Surveillance

  • Schedule appointments for examinations

  • Complete examinations

  • Preliminary exam elements Physical Examination

  • Audiometric Testing

  • Pulmonary Function Testing

  • Respirator Fit Testing

  • Good computer skills

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

Mandatory Schedule:

Work is in a manufacturing environment, with rotating shift work (including nights and weekends, as assigned). New shift assigned every 5 months. Shifts are listed below:

  • A shift Monday to Thursday 5:30 am to 4:00 pm
  • B shift Tuesday to Friday 5:30 pm to 4:00 am
  • C shift Friday and Saturday 5:30 am to 4:00 pm, Sunday and Monday 5:30 pm to 4:00 am

Basic Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN)

  • 3+ years of experience in areas such as occupational health, urgent care, critical care, emergency room, adult medical/surgical nursing, etc.

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Current unrestricted license in the state of Illinois

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing

  • 5+ years of experience in areas such as urgent care, critical care, emergency room, adult medical/surgical nursing, etc.

  • Occupational health experience

  • Experience in case management

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

  • Pulmonary Function Testing training

  • Knowledge of Audiometric Testing

  • Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

JOB DESCRIPTION: MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE Under direction, functions as individual contributor as well as directly supervises technical/professional occupational and environmental health and safety program staff. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES * Administers the procedures of the occupational and environmental health and safety program consistent with the company's general policies concerning health services. * Administers a budget to meet assessed needs. * Coordinates the necessary resources to operate the occupational health service. * Collaborates in the design of controls for occupational injury and illness prevention. * Assigns work responsibilities and work schedules, monitors work assignments, and evaluates staff performance. * Coordinates orientation of new occupational health nurses and other health services personnel. * Develops and provides opportunities for in-service education/staff development and continuing professional education. * Ensures compliance with current laws, standards and regulations governing workforce and work site safety, health and environmental issues. * Maintains and safeguards confidentiality of health information consistent with laws and regulations. * Demonstrates compliance with state laws governing nursing practice. * Plans and implements health promotion and disease prevention strategies and programs. * Coordinates the site case management program. * Identifies changes in case management practice and treatment plans to bring about appropriate care and cost-effective outcomes. * Assesses the health needs of employees and employee populations. * Implements occupational and environmental health and safety education and training. * Monitors the work environment to assure the health and safety of employees. * Initiates investigative interventions such as walkthroughs or job hazard analysis as needed. * Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to foster the provision of effective health, safety, and environmental services. * Collaborates with researchers and other members of the occupational and environmental health and safety team in participating in research. * Identifies resources that describe relevant research findings and applies them to practice. * Maintains awareness of technological and professional changes associated with occupational and environmental health and safety. * Monitors and documents the quality and effectiveness of care, services, and products provided to client(s). * Assumes leadership role in advancing profession. * Uses an ethical decision-making framework in all activities. * Provides learning opportunities for student nurses in the occupational health setting. * Monitors the quality and effectiveness of vendor services. * Engages actively in efforts to affect policy making and practice governing employee, work site, and environmental, health and safety issues.
