BAE Systems is hiring an Occupational Health Nurse to support the I&S Sector Occupational Health Program, Workers' Compensation Administration and general safety, health and environment program. The selected individual will sit at the BAE Systems, Inc. site in either Fort Walton Beach, FL (preferred) or California, MD.
This individual will perform as the professional medical resource for the I&S Sector. This includes promoting workers safety, managing injuries and illnesses and return workers to their duties in a caring, and efficient manner within their professional scope of care.
Coordinates the filing of workers' compensation claims to include obtaining all required documents to be provided to the HR business partner and workers' compensation third party administrator.
Responsible for the complete implementation of applicable medical policy & procedure to include maintenance and preparation of new policy / procedures.
Lead efforts with engineering, operational, technical and warehouse management and supervisors in developing injury and illnesses prevention strategies. Preparation of injury trends with analysis, corporate reporting, and training assistance as required.
Maintains DOT Driver Qualification files.
Provides patient care to employees in emergency and urgent care situations. Associated medical treatment as assigned within the individual's scope of care.
Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as OSHA required topics, safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
Investigate industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities and Worker's Compensation Claims.
Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
Plans, develops, and implements safety and industrial hygiene programs to comply with corporate policies and procedures, federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
Works with managers, employees, and leadership to ensure that corrective or preventive measures are taken.
Develops and updates applicable local portions of the business SHE Manual and other directives.
Plans and coordinates the utilization of safety and industrial hygiene consultants to promote safety consciousness and safe working practices.
Ensures that Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) record keeping and reporting requirements are met. Analyzes and interprets injury and accident data for monthly reports to management.
Recommends Safety and Health programs, policies, and/or procedural changes to enhance organizational effectiveness and/or ensure legal compliance.
