Observational research (OR) makes important contributions to drug

development, commercialization, and safety evaluation. OR contributes

evidence regarding the frequency and distribution of disease, the natural

history and clinical burden of disease, the design of clinical trials, cost and

utilization patterns, and the safety and effectiveness of therapies. There is

increasing demand for information from OR studies by regulatory and

reimbursement authorities. The Center for Observational Research (CfOR)

was created to address this imperative.

This CfOR Manager will have responsibilities for various research activities in

the Inflammation Therapeutic Area (TA) and reports directly to a Therapeutic

Area Director. A CfOR Manager is recognized as a strong scientific

contributor and is a first or contributing author for papers in peer reviewed

journals or for internal reports that enhance the company's mission. This

position will be located at Amgen's Thousand Oaks headquarters.

Key Activities include, but are not limited to:

Contributes to research strategy within the product teams and observational

research TA

Incidence/prevalence of disease in US, EU, Asia, and emerging market countries

Executes or manages research projects involving the analysis of multiple

Executes pharmacovigilance studies

Provides safety research support across the life cycle of Amgen products

Supports development of risk management plans

Conducts literature reviews and prepares research reports and scientific

manuscripts

Stays abreast of the latest developments in the field of observational

research and drug development

Promotes awareness, understanding, and use of observational research

methods

Supports relationships with key leaders in observational research

Provides input into observational research department meetings

Communicates significant scientific information to a variety of audiences

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate Degree

OR

Master's Degree and 3 years of Scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of Scientific experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Scientific experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Epidemiology or other subject with high observational research

content

  • Experience in the design, execution, and analysis of observation research

studies within Pharmaceutical or Public Health setting

  • Experience in research to support drug development

  • Experience in observational research project planning and management

  • Experience communicating observational research information (written and

oral)

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams

  • Record of publications in observational research or clinical journals

Specific responsibilities include: * The ICC Forecasting Leader owns the End to End of Capacity planning across multiple business lines within and outside of the ICC * He/she is accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of the ongoing monthly staffing and hiring recommendations made by the Capacity Planners up to 9 quarters as well as the accuracy of the short term forecasts down to a half hour interval level for upcoming 8-12 weeks produced by the short term forecasters * Be adept at statistical modeling, working with and updating excel based staffing models, perform regression testing and identifying staffing impacts due to forthcoming initiatives and incorporate into staffing models * Oversee and monitor forecasts to ensure staffing levels are within +/- 5% tolerance levels on a monthly and half-hourly forecasting data by Line Of Business as well as ensure proactive deep dive and analysis to adjusts go-forward forecasts * He/ she is responsible for optimizing and implementing standardized Capacity Planning framework policies and procedures across ICC * He/she will be responsible for leading the efforts in proactively identifying workforce automation opportunities to simplify and streamline the forecasting process * He/she will be responsible to develop, own and partner with business and support teams in implementing the Monthly Performance Planning meeting across ICC as well as businesses we support outside of ICC * Managing a team of forecasters and partnering with the larger Workforce Management team to drive collaboration and partnership * Overall responsibility include ensuring team coverage, proactive outreach to business teams in the event of forecasted SLA challenges and provide recommendations for optimizing staffing for front line phone and off phone team members to consistently meet business SLA goals * He/she would own and be accountable for setting up the business control framework for Capacity Planning procedures, success metrics and conduct regular audit checks to ensure process operate within a controlled and acceptable manner * Partnerships with key contacts such as, but not limited to: senior leaders, contact center managers, program/project managers, and other enterprise functional points of contact are critical.
