POSITION SUMMARY:

The RN Resident is a registered nurse participating in a specified training program which is standardized based on area of specialization. The training includes orientation, combined with unit based, precepted clinical experiences and didactic instruction.

The RN Resident is under the direct supervision of their Preceptor and Supervisor Nursing Unit. According to hospital policies and procedures, by the direction of their Preceptor, the Immersion Resident assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients.

Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting.

EDUCATION REQUIRED (Minimum formal academic training which typically provides the knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance. Note in Other if experience may be substituted.) Graduation from an accredited/approved school of professional nursing, less than 6 month.

Completion of ADN or BSN degree. ADN Graduates: Enrollment in a RN to BSN program is required within 1 year of hire date. Completion of BSN Program required within 3 years of enrollment.

Required:

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas or Compact Nursing License.

  • Current BCLS provider

Required Upon Hire (for certifications only: upon hire is defined as within 2 business days of start date)

All critical care Registered Nurses will be required to obtain additional ceritfications (e.g. PALS,

ACLS, TNCC) in accordance with assigned critical care unit RN job description.
