The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a clinical science department within the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. As the region's only academic OBGYN department, the primary functions of the department are to provide evidence-based and comprehensive clinical service to the region, teach obstetrics and gynecology to medical students, resident physicians, post graduate students, nurses and other allied health professionals, and conduct clinical research featuring our rural mission.

Job Duties

The Brody School of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is currently seeking a Full-time Division Director for the Obstetrician Gynecologist Specialist Division. Working under the direction of the Department Chair, the Division Director will supervise the 16-member division faculty, develop care policies, review and update clinical rotations, and oversee teaching and research for the Division.

There is also an opportunity for qualified individuals to have a position of their time devoted to informatics development across the Women's Health Service Line. The position will include opportunities for active involvement in the teaching of medical students and residents, multidisciplinary teams providing clinical care, and ongoing research.

Fixed Term or Tenure Track position available at the title/rank of Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor/Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor/Professor.

12 month position with anticipated start date of

  • 8.1.24.

Contingent upon availability of funds.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Minimum Education/Experience

MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution and conferred by the time of hire, or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for ECFMG Certification.

Candidates must be eligible for medical practice in the State of North Carolina by the time of employment.

Candidates must have successful completion of OBGYN residency and be board certified or eligible with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Prefer applicants with at least two years of clinical experience and 1 year in an administrative position. Additional experience and/or training is expected if there is an interest in the informatics role.
