Responsibilities

About this opportunity:

Is expected to perform duties in alignment with the mission and policies of the organization. Performs duties in support of and in compliance with the performance improvement plan, JCAHO and other licensing, accrediting and regulatory agencies.

Is a member of the Surgical team who works with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Registered Nurses and other surgical personnel in delivering care, pre-operatively, intra-operatively and post-operatively. Participates in the coverage of the departmental On Call schedule as well as shift adjustment based on the needs of the department. Is expected to attend and assist in vaginal deliverys and C-Sections.

Will assist physician and RN in all phases of patient care of the obstectrical patient. Understand basic fetal monitoring and placement of fetal monitor part and wil act as a aide to RN during duration of patients stay. Will be responsible for the primary stocking of LDR's and operating rooms.

Qualifications

One year experience in an acute care setting. Minimum education as required for surgical tech certification.

Graduate of Surgical Technology program or equivalent training. Current Certification from the Association of Surgical Technologists or Diploma in Surgical Technology. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Provider. Position represented by CHEU.

VIEW JOBS 1/5/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-05T00:00 The primary function of the OBT in Labor and Delivery is to serve as a "scrub tech." Working within the sterile field and applying the principles of asepsis, the OBT provides the obstetrician with the necessary equipment and supplies used for the cesarean section procedure. The OBT works within the OR and delivery rooms, both pre- and post-operatively, to aid in maintaining the OR and delivery suites, equipment and instrumentation for optimum use. Other responsibilities include assisting the RN/MD during vaginal delivery and initial newborn care. The OBT works within the delivery room to provide the MD or RN attending the newborn with necessary equipment help with forms, and with the patient as needed. The OBT assists with purchasing and stocking supplies for assigned areas, and possesses the ability to float to other perinatal areas as needed. The OBT anticipates department needs and assists with unit clerk responsibilities, e.g., telephone, charts, and helping with visitors Minimum Education: High School Graduate Surgical Technical School Minimum Experience/Knowledge: Minimum of one (1) year experience in the labor and delivery setting preferred.
