Position Summary and Highlights:

Saint Alphonsus Medical Center is seeking an OB Tech for our team in Ontario, OR!

OB Techs assist the OB Team during cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries in accordance with internal standards and procedures. They also provide support and communicate directly with surgical teams and supervisory staff.

Schedule and Benefits:

  • Position is scheduled for 36 hours a week on day shift.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Registration with the State of Oregon as Certified Nursing Assistant required.

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program with Certification is preferred.

  • One year of scrub experience in a hospital setting preferred.

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.

What You Will Do:

  • Good knowledge and application of aseptic technique, surgical principles, procedures and instrumentation.

  • Apply principles and techniques of asepsis to the work assignment; assists with scrubbing, preparation of the sterile field, gowning/gloving members of the surgical team and draping patient.

  • Under the direct supervision of a qualified practitioner, plan for and prepare necessary instruments, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.

  • Demonstrate understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and bacteriology.

  • Ability to organize work, maintain good interpersonal relationships, function under stress and to work under supervision.

  • Order and stock supplies and perform environmental cleaning duties according to standards. Clean assigned work unit; stock and replenish supplies and equipment as necessary, identify and report problems with supplies or equipment; enter equipment repair request in system, tag equipment and remove from service.

  • Assist RN in the provision of patient care in the scope of CNA; vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, infant bathing, infant weights, PKU lab draws, and newborn hearing screens

  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients aged birth to adult.

  • Must have the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients.
