O365 System Administrator

Location: Remote and 400 South Fort Harrison, Clearwater, FL 33756

This position requires the candidate to have residence within 1.5 hours of the work location.

The Division of Infrastructure Services is seeking a highly motivated and directed, forward-thinking, problem-solving infrastructure professional to join our team as a O365 System Administrator. This position will work directly with the infrastructure teams, Pinellas County affiliates, departments, and organizations to assist with maintaining and growing technologies and ensuring business value outcomes.

Do you have expert level experience with Microsoft Windows Server, O365, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Active Directory? Do you enjoy performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, administration, account management and resolution of software and hardware issues as well as developing new system designs?

What Would You Do?

  • Manage Exchange 2016 and Exchange 2019, SMTP, Email relay services, and email service operations.

  • Manage 0365 and Teams environments.

  • Managed Azure Active Directory and on prem Active Directory.

  • Present technical changes and requests to Change Advisory Board meetings and board members.

  • Knowledge of O365 hybrid environments including mailbox migrations and account and group syncing.

  • Knowledge of Exchange Management Shell and PowerShell for testing, scripting, and maintaining email roles and SMTP environment.

  • Knowledge of Hub Transport Services including but not limited to Send and Receive Connectors, transport rules and SMTP relay connectors.

  • Knowledge of Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) Mail Routing, email relaying, and mail flow.

  • Provide base level Active Directory support including account and group creations.

  • Manage problem resolution to a satisfactory completion by keeping abreast of assigned tickets and following the proper escalation processes via ticketing system.

  • Experience with supporting anti-spam filtering, logging and email tracking and transport rules.

  • Perform migrations and deployments related to the building, upgrade, and maintenance of MS Exchange. This includes security patches and cumulative updates.

  • Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft 365 Teams.

  • Manage mailbox permissions, access, and retention policies.

  • Support project teams, with the ability to lead complex efforts.

  • Utilize industry best practices, champion the adoption of new technologies while working through appropriate channels and processes.

  • Maintains and builds positive relationships within the BTS Team and with members of other County Agencies and Vendors.

  • Provides technical mentoring as needed to ensure that single points of failure are eliminated.

  • Stays on the cutting edge of relevant technology by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

  • Accomplishes organizational goals by taking ownership of assignments and driving issues to a successful close, even when accountability for those issues crosses organizational boundaries.

  • Implements system upgrades and patches.

  • Perform operational procedures and support including administration, maintenance, performance monitoring/optimization, capacity planning, space management and recovery.

  • Performs request, configuration, and management of storage both locally and across a SAN.

  • Set user privileges within the NTFS environment.

  • Technical troubleshooting of hardware, software, and operating systems. Performs other related job duties as assigned.

What Do You Need To Have?

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Six (6) years of technical and professional experience working with Microsoft O365, and either Azure or Active Directory and Exchange administration, experienced in building, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, and/or Windows Server 2019/2022 Active Directory administration. Cloud IaaS experience. Group Policy design and administration. NTFS file security and File sharing design, build and troubleshooting. VM environment experience (VMware or Hyper-V). All of which includes customer service and one (1) year lead worker, supervisor, or supervisor training working with Microsoft O365; or

  • Associate degree in an IT or engineering related field, and five (4) years of experience described above; or

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT related major or engineering field and three (2) years of experience as described above; or

  • Master's degree in Information Technology and one (1) year experience as described above; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

  • Must successfully obtain and maintain Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Level 4 - CJIS Security & Awareness Certification.

  • Must maintain flexible availability and a willingness to work any schedule including providing after-hours support as needed.

  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.

Highly Desirable

  • VMware experience, Windows Server clustering.

  • WSUS management. Exchange server management. IIS Web services.

  • Print server services. DFS and replication administration.

  • Scripting and programming in PowerShell, bash, batch, or other programming languages.

  • Ability to mentor teammates, lead teams, and facilitate groups to achieve success with others.

  • Desire to self-develop relevant job-related skill(s) for current and future roles.

  • Candidate to demonstrate competence and/or possess certifications in one or more specific IT functions: MCSA or MCSE

  • Must be local to the Clearwater / Tampa area for hands on support with equipment.

  • Must be able to maintain 24x7 availability and be willing to provide after-hours support as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Hands-on experience supporting the following: Windows 7, 10, 2012R2, 2016, 2019,2022.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 deployment and administration.

  • Experience with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

  • Experience working with antivirus protection products (Microsoft End Point Protection, Trend Micro or similar solutions).

  • Experience with providing user support and conducting user software and hardware training to formulate technology solutions and ensure the effective safeguarding and sharing of enterprise data.

  • Experience and knowledge of wireless communication systems and protocols

  • Experience with virtualization technologies including server and desktop virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESX, View preferred).

  • Knowledge of server to network interfaces, TCP/IP protocols, TCP/IP routing, IP switching, DNS and DHCP.

  • Experience working in a highly structured, process driven facility (ITIL based).

  • Experience using Solar Winds Orion monitoring tools.

  • Experience with Enterprise Apple solutions DEP, VPP, Apple Configurator and printing solutions within iOS devices.

  • Experience with implementing and maintaining AirWatch, Intune and other mobile device management solutions, administer phone registration and advises on enterprise policies; installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in a production environment.

  • Experience supporting various directory services including Active Directory and eDirectory, as AD site planning, Novell, and AD replication, DFS management, LDAP, and Windows File server management.

  • Experience working with or knowledge of Storage Area Network environments (NetApp, a plus).

  • Experience working in a large installed base shop (500+ servers), responsible for daily server operations / administration tasks.

  • Experience managing/supporting IIS.

  • Knowledge and experience in systems security (access controls, authorization controls, log management).

  • Experience with data protection and backup requirements / products (Rubrik, Veeam, CommVault or similar backup solutions).
