NYSUT a statewide membership organization and one of the largest public employee unions in the country, seeks an experienced digital communications strategist and content development manager to lead the development of a state-of-the-art digital communications and engagement program. The position will be located at NYSUT headquarters in Latham, New York.

The ideal candidate would have a demonstrated ability to quickly and effectively coordinate the work of Communications staff to execute digital projects, advocacy campaigns and social media initiatives to meet the goals and objectives of leadership and internal stakeholders. This position requires a thorough understanding of digital, text and online communications, including but not limited to:

General knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and Snapchat;
Experience with social platform and community management, ideally including use of tools like Hootsuite or Sprout Social;
Experience with digital advertising planning and buying, including direct buys through self-serve platforms and DSPs;
Experience with public affairs and action platforms, such as EveryAction or NationBuilder;
Experience with mass emails and email platforms, such as Action Network, MailChimp or SendGrid;
Basic HTML and CSS skills;
Experience building successful SMS programs;
Basic graphic design and video editing skills;
Knowledge of DMPs, data management, and data analysis is a plus; and
Experience with social and conversation analytics is a plus, including experience on tools like CrimsonHexagon or Brandwatch.

Candidate must have experience in a fast-paced environment to recommend appropriate social media strategies for each initiative. Must have experience analyzing and reporting engagement metrics and in using data to drive content strategy and measure for impact.

6 years of experience in digital and social communications; preferably working with a membership organization.
Strong content knowledge and understanding of k-12, higher education, labor and health care, as well as political and legislative processes in New York State.
Familiarity with graphic design tools, content-management software, web development and publishing software.
Position is located at NYSUT headquarters in Latham, NY.
Some statewide travel for events and after-hours work is required.
Experienced digital communications manager with demonstrated ability to lead staff; work as part of a team; and respect for the principles of the labor movement.
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
College degree is required.
Other duties as assigned.

Department – Digital Investment: Our Digital Investment teams are critical in bringing our media plans to life.
