About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school.

We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate's training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Manager-Nutrition Services Operations, oversee and participate in the heating, preparation and serving of hot and cold menu items to students and staff at an assigned school site; maintain the kitchen and serving areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition; requisition, receive and store food and supplies; train and provide work direction to assigned staff.

Step A $23.99, Step B $25.18, Step C $26.45, Step D $27.79, Step E $29.20, Step F $30.67 Promotional/Open: The promotional group as well as the general public may apply. The promotional side of the eligibility list shall take precedence when certifying the eligible candidates.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: MONDAY, JULY 15, 2024, by 4:30 p.m. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Nutrition Services Lead I classification is assigned to a designated school site. Incumbents perform responsible and varied food service preparation activities in addition to training and providing work direction and guidance to staff as assigned by the position. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of experience in the preparation and serving of food in large quantities. LICENSES/Other Requirements: Valid Serv-Safe certificate. All offers of employment are conditional upon the applicant's satisfactory results of the Pre-Placement Evaluation Program (PEP) strength test.

SELECTION & EXAMINATION: The selection process will consist of an application screening for completeness and qualifications, a written exam (weighted 40%) and oral panel interview exam (weighted 60%) will be conducted.

A passing score must be achieved on all exams to be placed on the eligibility list. Final selections will be made from the three highest accepting ranks off the eligibility list.
