Title: Nutrition Office Assistant

Corrects menus for modified diets and checks tray line to ensure accuracy and good appearance. Utilizes computerbased menu planning system.
Communicates with staff in patient areas to review/revise patient menus. Prepares pediatric and adult enteral formula.
Checks prepared food and try line to ensure therapeutically accurate trays and good appearance of patient meals. Reports any discrepancies to supervisor or other appropriate management or staff.
Utilizes computer or computer reports to check for the accuracy and appropriateness of information.
Learns to correct menus for all modified diets including those with complex and multiple diet restrictions. Utilizes diet manual for reference and adheres to established guidelines for menu correction.
Serves as liaison between patients and patient care areas and Nutrition and Food Service staff. Completes Patent Satisfaction Surveys and assists patients with menu selections following standard procedure.
Communicates with appropriate staff via phone to obtain, verify, or revise patient menu information. Maintains phone logs to record requests for service and followsup to ensure service is provided.
Equivalent to high school education.
Three to four months of related experience preferred to be familiar with basic nutrition and food service operations, functions, and procedures. The ability to read menus, write, and utilize basic mathematics and carry out standard verbal and written instructions and procedures. The ability to utilize personal computers or data terminals to record, verify, and retrieve standard information.
