Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Nutrition Educator (1.0 FTE, Days) to work for Pediatric Specialists at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.
Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the diabetes education program at Swedish Medical Group. Educates patients about diabetes medical nutrition therapy and diabetes self-management in individual or group settings.
In this position you will:
Apply nutrition care process for developing the patients care plan which includes assessing the needs of the patient and family, formulating the educational plan, implementing, evaluation and revisions as needed.
Assist patients to set individualized diabetes nutrition, physical activity and/or diabetes self-management goals.
Assist in medical management of patients according to department policies and procedures.
Demonstrate effective teaching skills in a variety of educational settings including one-on-one instruction and group classes which are age appropriate and culturally relevant. Demonstrates ability to use audio-visual equipment for group education classes.
Participate in group diabetes education classes, teaching nutrition education, physical activity content and other diabetes self-management topics as needed.
Follow appropriate policies, procedures, and lesson plans.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelors Degree in Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics
4 years Nutrition experience, preferably one year in ambulatory care setting or community health.
One thousand hours of diabetes education experience in a variety of settings.
Experience and comfort with teaching and public speaking.
Current national registration as a Registered Dietitian.
Washington State Certified Dietitian.
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or eligible for certification.
If CDE eligible, must certify within one year of employment.
