Presbyterian Homes & Services -SummerWood of Chanhassen is seeking a full time Nutrition & Culinary Director to join our team. SummerWood of Chanhassen serves our residents through housing and services offered in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and our Memory Care Assisted Living community. We are part of a larger non profit organization, Presbyterian Homes & Services, that has been serving seniors for over 60 years. Presbyterian Homes has a strategic plan to grow twice in size in the next 15 years - and we are an organization that strives to promote from within. Responsibilities

The Nutrition & Culinary Services Director has responsibility as a member of the site leadership team to participate in the planning and implementation of strategies and programming that assure high quality customer meals while achieving short and long-term operational goals and objectives for the site.

Customer Meals

  • Oversee the meal preparation and service based on established menus, regulations, established policies, procedures and best practices.

  • Assist with the meal process as necessary.

  • Regularly solicit customer feedback and incorporate solutions regarding the quality and satisfaction with meals served into meal and service planning.

  • Develop menus and recipes that are attractive, nutritious and palatable with a focus on customer requests/satisfaction.

  • Maintain and monitor accurate meal documentation records per established procedures.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication systems with all customers.

Customer Dining

  • Create a positive dining experience for customers that promotes their independence, choice and overall well being.

  • Encourage resident participation in the dining program, and meal activities.

  • Oversee the entire dining process for all customers.

Nutrition Program Care Centers

  • Oversee the meal preparation and service based on established menus, regulations, established policies, procedures and best practices.

  • Assist with the meal process as necessary.

  • Regularly solicit customer feedback and incorporate solutions regarding the quality and satisfaction with meals served into meal and service planning.

  • Develop menus and recipes that are attractive, nutritious and palatable with a focus on customer requests/satisfaction.

  • Maintain and monitor accurate meal documentation records per established procedures.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication systems with all customers.

Qualifications

  • Care Center: Enrolled in or a graduate of a dietary manager course with current state certification.

  • Housing and Assisted Living: Current Food Safety Certification.

  • Three to five (3 - 5) years' leadership experience in food service.

  • Demonstrated competencies in food service management and operations, quality management, staff development, cooking, clinical nutrition for the elderly, and community outreach.

  • Must have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, coworkers, family members, visitors, and the general public.

  • Demonstrated compatibility with PHS's mission and operating philosophies.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.

May also assist with special projects related to Nutrition & Education for the field, including content creation. Major Duties & Responsibilities Member Experience * Performs telephonic nutrition coaching, virtually via phone & computer. * Provides appropriate recommendations (diet, exercise, supplementation, and lifestyle factors) with proper connectivity/sales of Life Time services, programs, testing, and nutritional products to support the personal training programming and desired member outcomes/goals. * Creates and maintains strong partnership with in-club fitness professionals to create results-driven nutrition programming for training clients. * Has strong and clear communication skills with members, field leaders, and the front line fitness & nutrition professionals to ensure consistent alignment of member goals, programming, and progress. * Manages and maintains coaching inbox/virtual messages from nutrition coaching clients and fitness & nutrition professionals. * Maintains member data and appropriately communicates to fitness professionals needs and timelines for re-assessment recommendations, including lab testing & metabolic assessments. * Supports creation of ongoing Virtual Nutrition Coaching content, Training & Quality Assurance. Assists with Corporate-driven projects and initiatives as needed. * Assesses effectiveness of Virtual Nutrition Coach model and contributes ideas for improvement. Sales & Promotion * Promotes appropriate virtual coaching, nutritional products, services, programs and lab testing available at Life Time, aligned with the AND Code of Ethics. * Clearly explains appropriate programming adds and changes to make to members engaging in lab testing, metabolic assessments, and nutritional supplements strongly encouraging ongoing coaching to better implement action plan. * Supports nutrition coaching clients with appropriate recommendations of assessments, supplementation and ancillary services. * Fosters trust with virtual nutrition coaching program participants with making impactful recommendations based on their inquiries, goals, and ongoing needs. Financial & Budgetary * Performance measures include client retention & results; may also include supporting growth of nutrition products, coaching, and lab testing. * Schedules and completes record keeping according to standard operating procedures. Managerial & Supervisory * Ensures programs and services conform to Life Time quality standards and procedures. * Completes all assigned Life Time University courses. * Completes both external and internal Nutrition Coaching certification. Responsibilities of All Positions * Supports and articulate the Life Time mission statement * Adheres to company policies and procedures Customer Service: * Demonstrates positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism to internal and external customers Minimum Qualifications Education: * Four-year college degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or related field * Successful completion of Accredited Dietetic Internship (preferred) Experience: * One to three years experience in Nutrition or related field * Personal training and/or Group Fitness instruction experience required * Prior experience in Life Time club preferred * Life Time Metabolic Testing certification preferred Licenses / Certifications / Registration: * Registered Dietitian (preferred) * Precision Nutrition Level 1 OR ISSA Fitness Nutrition Specialist certification * CPR/AED certification * Dietetics state licensure (preferred; state of Minnesota) * Personal training certification Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics * Extensive knowledge of dietetics, supplementation, and metabolism and how to adapt knowledge to practical use in conjunction with exercise programs * Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and recommend solutions * Ability to build relationships with members and in-club team members * Excellent customer service skills * Excellent phone coaching and communication skills * Ability to handle and resolve customer conflicts in a professional, tactful manner * Ability to multi-task and learn quickly * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Ability to effectively multi-task with tight deadlines independently and within a team environment * Ability to operate a personal computer * Knowledge of standard office procedures and computer software (Microsoft Office) Language Ability: Intermediate- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
