Physical Abilities: Requires general arm, hand, leg, and body coordination to use standard large kitchen equipment. Working environment requires physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, stoop and infrequently lift objects up to 50 pounds.

Requires the ability to handle hot material and work in an environment dominated by wide temperature extremes. Requires sufficient hand coordination to use kitchen utensils and equipment and move and position hot materials. Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma plus post high school course work in meal planning, nutrition, sanitation, business administration, cafeteria management dietetics or related field. Additional experience may substitute for education. Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in institutional food service and cooking.

Licenses and Certificates: TB Test clearance, Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance, and valid Driver's license.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Advancement from Nutrition Services Assistant requires the performance of more complex duties including, cooking and baking a variety of items for a hot food line and for pack out to remote sites. This position represents the third level in the food service career ladder. To advance to Assistant Supervisor II, prospective incumbents will perform these and related duties at a large secondary school serving multiple sites. To advance to Supervisor prospective incumbents require additional background to integrate food service activities in an industrial/institutional kitchen environment.

Comments and Other Information
