USD Head Start is seeking a Nutrition Aide. This position is 30 hours a week. Approximate hours would be 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday

• Friday, at the Head Start preschool classroom located in the newly renamed Heritage Elementary, in Harrisburg, SD (formerly Liberty Elementary). Position runs during classroom operation, nine months of the year or mid-August to mid-May annually.

This position works in a pre-school classroom providing support for nutrition activities which may include some minor preparation and plating pre-made meals, clean-up, snack preparation, meal tracking paperwork, and supervision of children ages 3-5 during meals and classroom activities.

USD Head Start serves the communities youngest learners within the SE South Dakota counties of Clay, Lincoln, Turner and Union. Program services are available in-home or at one of our local pre-school classroom locations. (Services vary by location and age.) Our team members provide quality programming to help prepare children for Kindergarten.

Position will crouch/squat or kneel to interact with small children. Position will lift food service containers up to counter height to serve. Position may bend to set/clean tables that are at child height, or assist with cleaning. Position will push food cart back to school kitchen. Position will stand for meal prep, cleaning and during some interactions with children.
