Do you have some extra time - where you want to make a difference in a family's life? OhioGuidestone's Nurturing Parent Facilitator opportunity is perfect for you! The Nurturing Parenting Facilitator/Coach is responsible for providing parent education to mandated families within the home or group setting with the goal to provide support, encouragement, information and resources to promote positive parent-child interaction. This opportunity is part-time and has a flexible schedule! Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the Nurturing Parenting Facilitator Training and assist in the planning and implementation of the program and appropriate curriculum for referred parents.

  • Develops and maintains a service relationship with family and caregivers to help design and implement a service plan.

  • Responsible for the following during group-based sessions: room preparation; distribution of handouts and supplies; presentation of lesson plans; consistent and smooth flow of activities; and clean-up.

  • Provides parents with information on development of limit setting, behavior management, household management and communication and relationship enhancement when needed.

  • Performs related administrative responsibilities; maintains client information, reports, records, and other documents; responds timely to emails and phone calls; attends various trainings and meetings; communicates with other agencies, departments, and vendors regarding required paperwork, contract compliance and consults with other county agencies and/or supportive services as necessary.

  • Supports the completion of funder requirements and program assessments.

  • Organizes and maintains written documentation for participants, employer, and educational institutions in case notes to ensure they are complete, current, accurate and disseminate according to program and department requirements.

  • Utilizes curriculum and implements model as required by program.

  • Maintains the confidentiality of client or collateral interaction within Agency defined standards.

  • Participates in staff training, supervisory and staff meetings.

  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

  • Exhibits positivity, flexibility and a willingness to provide in service training and take on new responsibilities as requested or required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

  • Computer literacy skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic database usage, as well as basic typing.

  • Must be able to exchange information with participants and/or families in various settings regarding program plans and performance of participant.

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Performance/Physical Requirements:

  • Work consist of walking, bending, stooping, ascending/descending stairs, and remaining in a stationary position 50% of the time, including positioning self to an equal level in order to assist children of all ages.

  • Work environment is based in the community and can include an agency office, school-based setting, child care facilities or participant's homes.

  • Must be able to drive frequently due to work varying work environments including agency office, school based, community based locations which may include participant homes in various communities.

  • Works flexible hours, which can include days, evenings, and weekends, as desired to meet the needs of clients and the OhioGuidestone and is available for crisis management by phone as needed.

  • Interacts verbally with coworkers, representatives from outside agencies, and families.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma with 3 years of mental health or related experience*, an Associate's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field with 1 year of mental health or related experience*. A Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience could include, but is not limited to, one or more of the following:

  • Service/treatment planning, care coordination, and/or referral and linkage for healthcare, behavioral healthcare, or non-healthcare services

  • Intervention using evidence-based techniques

  • Identification of strategies or treatment options

  • Restoration of social skills and daily functioning

  • Crisis prevention and amelioration

  • Establishment of trust and rapport, active listening, empathy and goal-setting

  • Social, spiritual, educational, and/or other supportive, relational activities

  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.

  • Ability to take and pass a physical exam, tuberculosis test and drug screening.

  • Employment is contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.

  • Funding sources may require OhioGuidestone to hire an advanced degree
