The nursing simulation laboratory technician will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of the nursing simulation laboratory. They will work closely with nursing faculty and students to ensure that the laboratory is running efficiently and effectively. The nursing simulation laboratory technician reports to the Simulation Director and School of Nursing Director. This is a grant funded position; appointment renewal for the following year is contingent upon available grant funding and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up and maintain nursing simulation equipment and supplies, including mannequins, computer software, and other related equipment
Operate nursing simulation equipment during simulations and provide technical support to faculty and students
Collaborate with faculty to develop and implement simulation scenarios and activities
Assist in the evaluation of simulation activities and provide feedback to faculty
Ensure that the laboratory is clean and organized, and that equipment is properly maintained and stored
Train faculty and students on the proper use of simulation equipment and software
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with simulation equipment and software
Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs
Stay up-to-date with advances in nursing simulation technology and make recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements
Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in nursing or related field
Experience working in a nursing simulation laboratory preferred
Familiarity with nursing simulation equipment and software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to manipulate small objects and dials on equipment
Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in a nursing simulation laboratory
May require some evening or weekend work to accommodate simulation schedules
May require occasional travel to attend training or conferences.
