Examples of Duties: NOTE: This position functions as both the program director and nursing faculty.
The Program Director is responsible for the development and administration of a Minnesota Board Nursing approved educational program. We will be seeking initial programmatic accreditation in October 2019. This includes the coordination/facilitation of didactic and clinical education; coordination of program faculty as appropriate; evaluation of student progress; maintenance of program records; and the instruction of students. The position also includes coordination of and participation in advisory committee activities.
All of the job standards and skills are considered to be above and beyond the diverse professional responsibilities of the typical faculty and will be performed and documented according to established policies and procedures.
These Program Director job duties are required for specific national program accreditation and/or industry specific state board approvals.
Director duties include:
Implement/maintain program accreditation
Coordinate program course schedules development
Oversee the development and revision of courses
Oversee student supervision/performance in the clinical setting
Completes any College Program Assessments as directed
Instruct units of education as required.
Coordinate student progress through the curriculum.
Responsible for program fiscal planning.
Take leadership role in student recruitment.
Pursue ongoing continuing education in professional practice, instructional methodology and management skills.
Act as liaison/program representative with other educational programs/institutions, organizations locally, statewide, regionally and nationally, and governing/regulating agencies.
Where applicable, work with the Program Advisory Committee in evaluating and integrating Quality Assurance activities and services.
Faculty duties include:
Continuous curriculum development, including the design, revisions, and implementation of instructional materials and assessment of learner outcomes
Integration of assessment activities into teaching practices and participation in department and college-wide assessment of student learning
Support of the success and development of students through the use of a variety of instructional methods, available office hours, and by providing additional resources
Development and implementation of on-campus, online and hybrid courses
Availability to teach at any of our locations during the daytime, evening or weekend in order to maximize enrollment and meet the needs of our diverse student population
Contribution into department decisions on budget, scheduling, textbook selection, etc.
Participation in discipline, team, campus, and college matters through service on committees; attendance at regular meetings; and continued professional development
Support and advance the department and college mission through ideas and projects
Occupational Experience Requirement
The following is required by the end of the third year (6th semester) of unlimited employment.

Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.
These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired. This course shall be waived for individuals who, at the time of hire, have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.3)
