Faculty members are under the immediate direction and supervision of the Dean, Health Sciences Programs. Health Sciences faculty are accountable for high quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the College. Along with the Dean, Health Sciences Programs, faculty have the authority and the responsibility for student admission, progression and graduation requirements as well as the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum. He/she serves as faculty advisor according to the rules and procedures of the College. The faculty member will work at least 40 hours per week including instructing courses, maintaining posted office hours, evaluating student work, preparing for the courses, and fulfilling other duties as needed.

Salary is determined by verified degree:
BSN $51,930 (9 MO) + $17,310 (3 MO)
MSN $54,432 (9 MO) + $18,144 (3 MO)
Teaches assigned class loads (18 to 24 contact hours per week) which may include both day and evening courses
Provides classroom and course management in a manner consistent with appropriate professional conduct
Serves as a faculty advisor and keeps regular office hours in accordance with the procedures designated by College policy, the Dean, Health Sciences Programs and the Vice President of Instructional Services
Engages annually in professional development activities
Maintains a professional attitude toward students, peers, and the governing bodies of the College.
Assists in recruiting students and participates in activities that promote the College as a whole.
Meets and dismisses instructional activities on time and supervises instructional activities at all times when in session.
Assists students outside of scheduled class times
Develops such class, laboratory, clinical, or preceptor-experience activity as necessary for appropriate cognitive and skills development
Evaluates student performance through processes approved by the Division Dean and informs the student accordingly
Maintains office hours as approved by the Division Dean and posts same on a semester basis
Utilizes methods of instruction and teaching techniques appropriate to the fulfillment of course goals and outcomes
Furnishes all data and reports in a timely manner as may be required by the Instructional Services Division using appropriate forms and formats
Develops and maintains syllabi for courses within the academic field of responsibility
Develops and maintains course outlines and makes them available within the first week of class to the students
Maintains accurate class rosters (census reports and final attendance reports) and submits same in the manner and at times required by the Division Dean
Assists the Division Dean in the selection of texts, technological support, teaching aids, and resources
Recommends curricular modifications as necessary to maintain program viability
Assists in developing semester schedules of course offerings
Submits requisitions for supplies and equipment as necessary to ensure an efficient and effective learning process.
Uses procedures designated by the Division Dean to initiate equipment repair and/or replacement as necessary to maintain an effective academic environment
Works with Learning Resource Center/Distance Learning staff in developing audio-visual materials, supplementary readings, reference lists and other instructional resources in the academic field of responsibility
Attends faculty, division and College meetings and workshops as scheduled
Accepts assignments to standing and/or ad hoc committees of the College
Assists the Division Dean in planning, scheduling, and holding meetings of curriculum advisory committees
Informs the immediate supervisor of occurrences that deviate from scheduled norms
Maintains a safe, clean office space and reports immediately any unsafe classroom or working area conditions to the Division Dean
Notifies Division Dean of any absences or alterations in the class schedule in advance and in writing, if possible
Leaves class/clinical instructions in the event of absence and notifies the Division Dean immediately upon determining the necessity of being absent from class
Makes arrangements, when possible, for a substitute instructor in the event of class/clinical absence. (The substitution is to be approved by the Division Dean )
Obtains and maintains such licenses and/or certifications as may become necessary or appropriate to perform in accordance with accepted standards in the field of academic responsibility.
Maintains familiarity with the policies of the College.
Maintains familiarity with the North Carolina Board of Nursing, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the North Carolina Community College System's standards and requirements.
Participates in the faculty evaluation process
Carries out special assignments at the request of the Program Coordinator and Division Dean
Serves on at least one college committee
Reviews and recommends textbooks, reference materials, software, audio visual aids, and learning resources for classroom use
Recommends curriculum revisions and modifications to supervisor
Assists in determining budget needs for program and recommends purchases of equipment and supplies when appropriate
Mentors part-time faculty as assigned by the supervisor
Assists the Division Dean in developing semester course schedules
Participates in Health Sciences and College graduation, pre-registration and registration, and is available for student orientations as requested
Maintains professional and technical knowledge through reading professional publications and attending workshops and conferences as appropriate
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or as required by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) calendar years prior full-time employment or the equivalent in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse.
License(s) Required: Hold a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina
