Job Responsibilities

The Administrator manages all business related activity to achieve excellence in Resident care, high employee retention and be an integral part of the local community. Managing cost, maintaining compliance and growing census to become a high quality provider of health services are key functions of the role.

  • Develops or expands programs to maximize facility revenues. Active in all marketing events, monthly marketing meetings and various events.

  • Develops or expands programs to ensure the highest quality care for Residents.

  • Administers fiscal operations such as budget planning, cash flow management, financial management, accounting, and establishing rates.

  • Maintains a stable and competent staff. Maintains a working environment where Employee morale is high; Promotes Employee retention and appreciation programs.

  • Manages within the guidelines of all federal, state and local employment laws. Treats Employees fairly and is consistent with all employment decisions.

  • Maintains compliance with all government regulatory agencies.

  • Directs activities of all facility departments; manages within the constraints of labor and supply budgets.

  • Develops policies and procedures for various facility activities.

  • Ensures that company-wide management policies and programs are consistently followed. Works closely with Management Team to establish facility-specific programs.

  • Represents facility at community meetings, civic clubs and charities. Builds rapport with community.

  • Displays job competencies consistently.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in nursing home administration or related field required;

  • Licensed as required by Iowa state law.

  • 2-5 years experience as an Administrator or supervisory capacity within sub acute or long term care.

  • Superb interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to realize a vision through creative problem-solving

  • Desire to be part of building a success from the ground up

  • Ability to lead and influence employees at all levels

We are a small home with a capacity of 46 residents and 9 attached assisted living apartments. Providing the highest quality of care possible is job #1. Sigourney Health Care is not looking for just any Director of Nursing we are looking for the "Right" Director of Nursing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Directs operations and maintains compliance with State and Federal regulations affecting the facility's nursing functions. * Recommends establishment or revision of policies, procedures, and methods and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. * Advises and assists Administrator, Medical Director, and medical staff in planning and developing administrative and operational policies and procedures, facilities use and planning, and strategic planning. * Coordinates implementation of methods and procedures to ensure achievement of objectives. * Coordinates, integrates, and evaluates functions and activities of nursing program. * Consults with Administrator, Medical Director, department heads, and others to coordinate nursing activities with other facility activities. * Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff * Analyzes and evaluates overall patient care program. * Confers with managers and staff concerning problems of patient care. * Evaluates the education and training needs of personnel and directs development and implementation of in-service programs through subordinate staff. * Makes regular periodic rounds of Resident care units. * Develops and promotes cooperative working relationships with other facilities, hospitals, community agencies, and with other departments. * Directs the preparation and monitoring of nursing services budget. * Performs personnel management functions such as establishing personnel qualification requirements, drafting procedure manuals, initiating in-service programs, and installing record and reporting systems. * Initiates studies to evaluate effectiveness of nursing services in relation to their objectives and costs. * Prepares periodic reports concerning patient care service. * Maintains appropriate communication with Regional Clinical Care Coordinator. * Represents the facility to foster good public relations with outside groups and agencies.
