Dedicated Nursing Director supporting a large 54+ bed Medical Surgical Unit

Position Summary

The Nursing Director is the vital link between the mission and vision of SMHC and the delivery of safe patient and family-centered care. The Director is responsible for planning, developing and implementing systems and procedures that will a) ensure a high standard of patient care; b) support and maintain competent and effective personnel; c) promote cost effectiveness; d) maintain a 24-hour nursing care system that best meets the needs of patients and families, and e) exhibit excellent, effective communication skills.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing desired. Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

• License/Certifications: Current license as a Registered Nurse by the Maine State Board of Nursing required.

• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years experience in nursing, with at last three (3) years in a supervisory or management capacity.

• Ability to work and communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians and other staff members.
