Position Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator serves as a key College of Nursing role, reporting to the Dean of Nursing. This position will provide administrative and operational support for assigned data systems and program records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance. This position works collaboratively with college and university administrators, faculty, and staff as well as with healthcare facilities, healthcare providers, preceptors, and students to ensure high quality clinical outcomes.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages all aspects of the clinical placement process and ensures effective operation of clinical practicums by organizing, supervising, and evaluating clinical sites, preceptors & students. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring effective operation of clinical practicums by organizing, supervising & evaluating clinical sites, preceptors & students.

  • Monitoring student placements and clinical records.

  • Maintaining and obtaining contracts, mandatory legal documentation (license verification, liability insurance, qualifications of preceptors and preceptor orientation etc.).

  • Securing and coordinating clinical placements for all assigned programs for incoming and continuing students.

  • Managing communication related to clinical placement (notifications to students and preceptors, coordinating with faculty).

  • Coordinate regular assessment of students and preceptors.

  • Provides onboarding/orientation for preceptors and ensures clear objectives & expectations for students and preceptors.

  • Provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and project support to the Program Directors and faculty.

  • Creates and manages assigned databases to ensure complete and accurate information. Compiles reports and communicates data to appropriate stakeholders. Databases may include:

  • Tracking of clinical placements

  • Contracts/Agreements

  • Documentation

  • Legal verification (for students, preceptors, and clinical sites)

  • Tracking of student progress (including clinical hours, clinical experiences, and other related information)

  • Manages the clinical facility agreements and related records.

  • Performs periodic records audits.

  • Maintains regular contact with nursing colleagues, constituents, and preceptors at different clinical sites to ensure timely placement and to further relationships with partner institutions.

  • Participates in the preceptor recruitment process by building relationships, attending events, and utilizing other methods of outreach to secure preceptors for students that require assistance. This includes networking with healthcare practitioners in a variety of settings to facilitate clinical placements for incoming and continuing students.

  • Works in collaboration with the appropriate faculty to hire and train faculty for clinical practicums.

  • Works collaboratively with administrative personnel on the program's planning, evaluation, and implementation process to promote program effectiveness and growth.

  • Implements practicum concentration professional policies, standards & procedures. Maintains oversight of professional nursing behaviors and actions of students.

  • Addresses practicum students' academic and discipline issues with the Program Directors, Dean of Nursing &/or appropriate faculty.

  • Ensures efficient and effective student advising during clinical practicum.

  • Ensures that practicum course syllabi are updated and posted in the appropriate forums.

  • Ensures adequacy of clinical evaluation tools and methods within the program to determine consistency with learning outcomes & objectives.

  • The Clinical Coordinator may be required to teach courses throughout the calendar year in addition to assigned managerial duties and responsibilities.

  • Participates in the development of goals, policies, and procedures for the College of Nursing; and does related work as required.

  • Manages special projects and serves on committees at the request of the Dean of Nursing.

  • Participates in nursing department committees related to the program and in [CCNE] accreditation meetings.

  • Completes accreditation and regulatory reports.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • This position may require travel and a flexible schedule including occasional evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1.Master of Science in Nursing

2.Licensed in Florida.

3.Teaching and curriculum development experience in nursing.

4.Administrative experience in an academic setting of a minimum of two years.

5.Ability and skills to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, students, and others.

6.Demonstration of clinical experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

1.Doctorate in Nursing.

2.Teaching and curriculum development experience in nursing at the master's level or above for a minimum of three years.

3.Appropriate participation and service in professional and /or community organizations.
