Position Objective:

The Nursing Care Technician-Float is primarily responsible for adhering to the hospital's policies and guidelines in providing safe and quality patient care service. The unit coordinator performs functions under the supervision of the Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Director of Infection Prevention.

Patient Population Served:

The Nursing Care Technician is expected to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the physical ability, intellectual development, psychosocial, education and safety needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.

Essential Position Functions:

Transcribes physicians' orders demonstrating accuracy, efficiency and neatness.

Utilizes Order Communications accurately for ordering, information and communication. Maintains system on-line.

Demonstrates effective communication skills that relay clear, timely and accurate information.

Maintains the integrity and availability of patient records.

Makes appropriate referrals, including notification of consultation, arrangement for ambulance transfers and patient appointments. Documents and forwards information accurately and efficiently.

Supports department's customer service efforts. Provides service excellent to patients and their families, medical staff, peers, support services and other hospital personnel. Refers customer complaints to charge nurse for collaborative problem solving.

Demonstrates an awareness of, and support for, the hospital's Mission and Values Statement and Strategic Plan. Assists in the formation and accomplishment of unit goals and objectives.

Performs all duties maintaining patient confidentiality, privacy and respect. Complies with HIPPA guidelines.

Participates in hospital and departmental inservices, processes and committees that promote growth, objective problem solving, and team building.

Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families, staff, and corrects hazards promptly by implementing maintenance requests and notifying appropriate departments. Adheres to hospital safety policy and procedure.

Follows the principles of Infection Control as outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.

Participates in departmental Performance Improvement program by collaborating with the department's PI representatives and Nurse Manager in developing and implementing effective PI programs.

Complies with established hospital policies and procedures.

Demonstrates a commitment to containing costs and efficient use of material resources.

Responsible for ordering and managing unit floor stock and supplies.

Patient Care Functions

Assists the RN with data collection on admission and throughout the patient's stay.

Collects specimens and assists in the performance of procedures within the scope of CNA practice.

Documents selected information on various nursing forms.

Observes and reports patient's needs and responses.

Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process of patients.

Non-Essential Position Functions:

Participates in hospital/departmental committees.

Performs other duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictates.

Assists departmental staff in transporting patients to/from for procedure, comfort or discharge as requested.

Position Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal skills required to deal effectively with family, patients, and medical staff. Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

This position requires a level of knowledge, which is acquired through graduation from High School or equivalent.

LNA Licensing in the State of NH.

Clerical and managerial experience helpful. Knowledge and experience in computer operation. Past experience and education in medical terminology.

Working knowledge of underlying applicable principles, policies and procedures for the following entities: CDC, HCFA.

The ONN performs all treatments and procedures as outlined in the Nursing Practice Guidelines located on the FMH portal and applicable regulatory and professional entities' guidelines, standards, protocols, and procedures within the scope of RN practice. Within the RN scope of practice; is expected to consistently demonstrate competent, focused , clinical nursing assessments and history taking on all new, established and acute care patients in both triage and clinical care settings. Ability to utilize critical thinking, communication, problem-solving and decision making skills that promote quality patient care and positive outcomes across the spectrum of care as it relates to meeting the needs of the patients. Demonstrates a positive attitude with a focus on teamwork, open communication, problem resolution all the while maintaining a quiet therapeutic environment essential to patient satisfaction and optimum therapeutic experiences for the patients we care for. Patient Population Served: The CCC Oncology Nurse Navigator is expected to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the physical ability, intellectual development, psycho social, education, and safety needs of the adult and geriatric patient at the CCC. Position Qualifications: * Current New Hampshire State Registered Nurse license or a Compact State license. * Oncology Certification in Nursing, must be obtained within on year of hire date. * Active Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Clinician. * 2 years of nursing experience in an Oncology Clinical setting preferred. * 2 years of Oncology Navigation experience preferred. * Experienced and competent in practicing as an RN in highly skilled patient care settings. * Strong interpersonal skills required to deal effectively with patients and their support persons, and medical staff, to include prompt conflict resolution, independently and/or with guidance from management. * Working knowledge of underlying principles, policies and procedures for the following entities: CDC, CMS, OSHA, ONS, INS. * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. * Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
