Do you have a passion for nursing education and a commitment to fostering inclusivity and access? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as the Nursing Assistant Program Director. The Certified Nursing Assistant Program Director,is part-time (15-20hours per week), exempt from representation and reports directly to the Dean of Nursing. The Nursing Assistant Program Director will provide oversite according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the licensing exam for Washington State NA-C. The Program Director must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.The pay range for this exempt position is $36.00/hourly.The priority consideration date will be 4/30/2024 but will remain open until filled.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include

  • Provides leadership when working to improve access and successful educational outcomes for diverse student populations, especially historically marginalized and underserved groups.

  • Support the College's mission by creating a learning environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking through an equity lens.

  • Works directly with the Nursing Assistant in the development of new courses, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools; reviews and updates course outlines and textbooks; assists with curriculum updates; analyzes CNA program effectiveness emphasizing a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Applies and maintains standards of quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures; implements changes as necessary to maintain a successful Nursing Assistant program; integrates knowledge of industry trends and professional training to continuously improve program quality.

  • Participates in NA course scheduling, department, division, and college meetings; maintains records in compliance with Washington State Board of Nursing regulations and statutes governing Nursing Assistant education; serves on college committees as assigned.

  • Maintains proper Washington State certifications necessary for teaching Nursing Assistant courses.

  • Responsible for managing and ensuring that all student requirements for clinical are up to date (background check, vaccinations, TB, CPR, proof of personal insurance)

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Dean of Nursing.

  • Hires, trains, and monitors instructors and student workers.

  • Interviews, trains, and monitors part-time Nursing Assistant instructors.

  • Assists students in registering for the Washington State NA-C licensing exam.

  • Maintains approval status for in-state testing facility.

  • Participates in Community outreach for Nursing Assistant Program - including but not limited to social media, local school districts, Veterans, Work source, etc.

  • Reviews and responds to former Nursing Assistant students seeking nursing program application and referrals for health care positions.

  • Advises students on available health care employment and continuing nursing and health care programs.

  • Facilitates open labs and mock testing.

  • Attending/Communicating with DOH and the Nursing Commission on policies/requirements at the State level.

  • Developing/updating campus emergency/safety plans for compliance.

  • Establishes and maintains appropriate files for enrolled students.

  • Assists in the development, implementation and compliance of curriculum that meets current WAC requirements.

  • Assures students are not asked to, nor allowed to; perform any clinical skill with patients or clients until first demonstrating the skill satisfactorily to an instructor in a practice setting.

  • Assures evaluation of knowledge and skills of students before verifying completion of course.

  • Assures students receive verification of completion when all requirements of the course have been satisfactorily met.

  • Assures all student clinical experiences are directly supervised.

  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • The program director will have a minimum of three years of experience as an RN of which at least one year will be in direct patient care. WAC 246-841A-430.

  • The program director must attend an online orientation provided by the commission within 30 days of approval as program director.

  • Demonstrates leadership and/or participation with institutional programs who serve persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.

  • Maintains current Washington State license to practice as a registered nurse..

  • Must be able to work variable hours.

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

  • Experience working with English language learners preferred.

  • Computer-literate with competence in Microsoft Office.

  • One-year experience teaching in classroom setting preferred.

  • Dynamic, non-traditional delivery methods to teach students of widely carrying levels of proficiency and from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles preferred.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to work professionally and effectively with students, faculty, staff, colleagues and community partners.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail, maintains accurate records, andmanages multiple tasks to meet changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Represents the college in a positive and professional manner,

  • A second language in addition to English is preferred. Languages in the RTC service area include Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, Chinese.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work performed is primarily sedentary in nature (computer workstation,) in an office environment which is adequately heated and ventilated. Meetings in locations held on and off campus.
