Summary

About the Position:
This is a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). Patient's vital signs and clinical picture are continuously monitored by telemetry; central monitoring and at the bedside. Staff is expected to be familiar with the cardiac system and have general understanding of cardiac rhythms as well as the pulmonary system and normal vital sign ranges.

Position is being filled using EHA - Critical Need Health Care Occupations.
Responsibilities

Document pertinent information in patient?s chart utilizing computer charting systems (i.e., Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Essentris).
Utilize stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, etc. to obtain and validate observations.
Monitor patient vital signs and clinical picture through telemetry, central monitoring and bedside.
Perform nursing care on Critical Care Unit/Intensive Care Unit patients.
Caring for patients, including observing, recording, and reporting changes in their vital signs and behavior.
Perform other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: obtaining patient vital signs, serving meals, feeding patients, monitoring patients (i.e., by telemetry, central monitoring and bedside), answering patient calls, utilizing various electronic systems to document patient's chart (i.e. electronic medical record (EMR). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: A 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation.

OR

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts as part of your application package.)
