This is a full-time, 12-month position in the Division of Nursing and Health Professions. The Nursing & Health Professions Laboratory Manager manages the skill laboratory including multimedia resources. The Lab Manager is responsible for: ordering and maintaining supplies that are needed to run the skills laboratory, and participates in student remediation, evaluation, make up labs, and graduate outreach program. The Lab Manager assists with the recruitment of staff and students and serves as student evaluator in the clinical setting.

  • Participates in the remediation and tutoring of students.

  • Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies, adhering to safety standards.

  • Has primary responsibility for stocking and preparing the laboratory for instruction.

  • Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing of the skill lab.

  • Assists with the recruitment and retention of students on campus and in the community, including monthly information sessions.

  • Monitors compliance with safety practices, and regulatory agencies, as needed.

  • Maintains MSDS compliance records for all laboratory supplies.

  • Maintains current inventory and assists with the receipt and distribution of laboratory materials.

  • Utilizes instructional methods that promote the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making that contribute towards clinical competency.

  • May be required to participate in clinical, as needed.

  • Acts as advisor for the Student Nurses Organization.

  • Collaborates with division faculty and staff.

  • Participates in College and community events, which may include evenings and weekends.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

SUPERVISION

  • Part-Time Laboratory Coordinators

  • Bachelor's degree, with an understanding to complete MSN within 3 years of hire required. Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution preferred.

  • Active current New Jersey RN License

  • Recent clinical experience

  • Experience in the field of Nursing

  • Experience in a community college or similar environment

  • Experience in lab simulation preferred

  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

  • Commitment and ability to utilize instructional strategies to promote student retention and success

  • Ability to work with discretion, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound independent judgment

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours to meet department and College needs

  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners

  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment
