About the Job

Contributes to the Hospital's mission to care, to heal, and to excel in service to our community by teaching a quality health education program at any level. Utilizes compassion, empathy, and respect to collaborate with a multi disciplinary team to achieve expected outcomes and meets the highest level of professionalism consistent with a Magnet Hospital. This staff position will have an impact on improving patient safety by providing excellent mentoring and training of clinical staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Hired Prior to 10/1/13: Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited RN program

Hired On or After 10/1/13: Bachelors' degree in Nursing (BSN) or obtain BSN within five (5) years of hire

Preferred: BSN upon hire

Experience:

Required:

  • At least two years in clinical nursing

  • At least two years of long term care

  • Experience as a preceptor or trainer

Preferred: At least two years of health education

Other Skills/Knowledge:

Required:

  • Must maintain excellent teaching skills and enthusiasm for the subject matter as identified in evaluations.

  • Must maintain a current level of expertise in related specialty area

  • For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:

Required: Valid State of Massachusetts Registered Nurse license

LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Basic Life Support

The Compliance and Privacy Specialist will primarily assist with the day to day operations, and implementation of the HMFP Compliance Program. This includes, but is not limited to: performing regulatory research, developing and distributing timely and relevant HMFP Compliance communications and education, assisting with preparing quarterly reporting to key stakeholders, developing policies and procedures, conducting privacy investigations, performing exclusion checks, overseeing the release of information process, auditing, and responding to questions or concerns as needed., Essential Responsibilities: * Identifies potential compliance issues through risk assessment and audit reviews, effectively communicates compliance issues to management and works to address and resolve those issues to help reduce risk for HMFP and APHMFP. * Determines the impact of applicable laws, regulations, guidance and rules. Communicates and monitors implementation of required changes. * Develops and maintains solid working relationships with other departments within HMFP, APHMFP and its Affiliates, as well as BIDMC and other BILH business partners to resolve compliance and legal issues. * Presents compliance related material in a professional and credible fashion to ensure understanding of content and urgency of the message. Communication may be accomplished -via the HMFP Intranet, HMFP Compliance Newsletter, presentation format to a group, a one-to-one basis, email or phone etc. * Interacts with physicians and employees to ensure there is an understanding of initiative towards compliance with application of state and federal regulations. * Coordinates compliance related improvement activities in collaboration with HMFP management, BIDMC and other BILH affiliates when appropriate. * Coordinates and oversees internal regulatory activities involving compliance which may include policy development, communication & education, privacy and security, release of information requests, exclusion checks, issues tracking, and conflict of interest, as well as implementation and completion of resulting action plans. * Supports HMFP Compliance Leadership with ensuring effective and accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of all compliance event data to key stakeholders, including quarterly reporting to HMFP Compliance Oversight Committee and HMFP Board of Directors Executive Year-End Report. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree required. * Certificate 2 Cert. in Healthcare Compliance required., or attain certification within first year of employment. * 3-5 years related work experience required in compliance and/or legal with a demonstrated increased responsibility in the healthcare industry. * In depth knowledge and clear understanding of legal and federal rules and regulations. * Proficient communication skills and ability to develop, maintain and strengthen collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. * Ability to be flexible and adapt to new information, changing conditions or unexpected obstacles. * Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
