The Associate functions as the public face of company to retail customers and landscape clients at the Nursery/Garden Center.

Responsibilities

• Sales Associate staff operate all aspects of the retail store under the direction of Nursery Management.

• Need to be able to switch between tandem top priorities of A) Customer Service and Sales and B) Product and site care and maintenance as priorities and workload dictate.

• Provide high-level customer service in plant selection, garden design, pest/disease management and general care.

• Assist each customer in all aspects of their experience at Classic including, shopping, loading, cashiering and follow up.

• Operate POS system - cash registers and inventory control regimens who will develop their knowledge and familiarity with all product groups on an ongoing basis.

• Care for and maintain nursery stock, perennials and annuals as well as containers/accessories and other hardgoods.

• Merchandise / display garden center green and hardgoods. Unload shipments, price and stock all merchandise.

• General store/site maintenance of site and store fixtures including cleaning, dust/vacuum sales areas weeding as needed.

Requirements

• Availability to work on weekends

• Strong horticultural knowledge or training

• Nursery/Garden Center or other retail experience

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to engage in friendly interactions with customers

• Must be able to be on feet all day outdoors in all types of weather

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Point of Sale (POS) System, cash register/handling & general computer skills (preferred)

• Bobcat/skid steer operation (preferred)

• WSNLA [CPH] Professional Horticulturalist Certification (preferred)

• Master Gardner training (preferred)

• Washington state DL (preferred)

• First Aid/CPR training (preferred)

• Pesticide Applicator license (preferred)
