School Nurse District-Wide for Weld Re-1 School District / Lasalle, Gilcrest, and Platteville, CO

To provide emergency health care services, identify health-related problems or handicapping conditions; provide recommendations in remediation of, or adjustment to identify health problems; serve as a resource person and consultant to faculty, students and/or to the student's health care provider; assist in state reporting, and to provide the services of an R.N. as delegated by the building principals.

• Determines the health needs of incoming and returning students.

• Create individualized health care plans based on student needs.

• Provides the medical expertise on school and SPED teams.

• Provides for the health needs of students by managing medication administration and delivery of procedures that are required during the school day.

• Trains and delegates to staff in order to provide medical coverage as needed.

• Coordinates hearing and vision screenings

• Manages and obtains immunization records for all students in the district with help for the health assistant at each school.

• Develops and promotes good community relation among various community school clientele.

• Monitor Preschool student health and records to be compliant with licensing

• Collaborating with Prncipal on evaluation of Health Assistants/techs

Education or Formal Training:

• Current Colorado license to practice as a professional registered nurse required

• Colorado Department of Education license as school nurse required

• Bachelor degree or higher in nursing required (Official transcripts required upon hire)

• Training experience in the areas of school nursing, health education, CPR, special education and child abuse/neglect preferred.

• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Terms of Employment:

• 173 contracted work days

• Salary placement is based on experience and education - $55,000 - $65,000
