Murdoch nurses work as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team with physicians, psychologists, pharmacists, psychiatrists, and social workers to name just a few. Nurses gain professional fulfillment through the provision of evidence-based nursing practice with a person-centered approach.

Murdoch is currently recruiting a Nurse Supervisor II (NSII) located in Alpine Cottage.

Alpine Cottage serves an adult population. Typically, people served in this area are non-ambulatory, non-mobile with severe/profound intellectual/developmental disabilities requiring 24-hour-a-day licensed nursing care.

Emphasis throughout the day is placed on gross motor activities, basic self-help skills, increased communication skills, and health care needs. Medical concerns include seizure disorders, gastrointestinal problems, neurogenic bladders, and chronic respiratory problems.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clinical supervision of nursing services in Royall Cottage.  This Nurse Supervisor supervises full and part-time licensed nurses (RN and LPN); collaborates with the interdisciplinary team; provides professional guidance related to health care services; provides essential nursing coverage; administers medications/treatments; assures provision of minimum nursing coverage; is accountable for assessing nursing needs, developing long and short term goals, setting standards, coordinates and monitors the provision of health care; monitors for quality assurance, plans for utilization of resources, provides training to licensed and unlicensed staff, and collaborates with management to meet the needs of persons served.

Scheduled work hours/shift: 1st shift, 8:00 am

  • 5:00pm, 5 days/week with some schedule adjustments on all shifts and weekends. Flexibility is required for schedule adjustment as needed/required.

This is a full time position and eligible for the full state benefits package including Health Insurance, paid sick/vacation/holidays,retorement, etc.

Successful candidate must be able to pass Healthcare Provider CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) written and physical requirements as a condition of employment. Successful candidate must have a valid Driver License.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy followingrequirements:

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);

  • the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;

  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

This Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.
