Medical Organizational Unit Overview
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a clinical science department within the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. As the regions only academic OBGYN department, the primary functions of the department are to teach obstetrics and gynecology to medical students, resident physicians, post graduate students, nurses and other allied health professional, provide evidence-based and comprehensive clinical service to the region, and conduct clinical research featuring our rural mission.
Job Duties
Brody School of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is currently seeking to hire a full-time Nurse Specialist. The Nurse Specialist has primary responsibility to provide and coordinate intense and quality prenatal care to assigned patients referred for fetal diagnostic, genetics and other high risk services. This Nurse Specialist serves as a resource for both nursing and medical professionals and actively participates in all aspects of education and research activities within department.
CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT
The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability.
Minimum Education/Experience
Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation
State of North Carolina Registered Nursing License
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Two years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology
License or Certification required by the Department
State of North Carolina Registered Nursing License
