Position Summary Med Surg Vision A top functioning inpatient nursing unit at Orlando Health with the most qualified, caring, and ENGAGED team members. Our talented and UNITED team members are focused on growth and development as they attain higher education and certifications.

Our team ASSURES patients and families by exceeding quality and patient experience metrics. South Tower 5A/5C Medical Surgical units at Orlando Regional Medical Center have the maximum capacity of 52 bed semi-private rooms (5A 20 beds/5C 32 beds) with the capability of taking care of a variety of med-surg patients with a non-critical status. Our units accept patients who are long term, pending placement, or looking for a skilled nursing facility along with other placement challenges.

Our units also accept patients who are admitted for surgical implications, medical management, amputations, and other disease processes such as hypertension, pneumonia, COVID-19, and diabetes. Our units are also capable of cardiac monitoring with remote telemetry. If our patients become critically ill and exceed medical surgical level of care; we safely transfer to a stepdown/critical care unit.

Ideal Ratio: • Nurses: 5:1 • Nursing Assistants: 8:1 • Charge Nurse on 5A | Charge Nurse on 5C with no patient assignment Position Summary Administers patient care in an area in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, a medical condition, or post intervention with assessment. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Administers bedside patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting under the supervision of a preceptor, leader, and/or charge nurse. • Assesses patient's needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses. Evaluatesthe patient's progresstoward attaining expected outcomes. • Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers. • Functions as a patient and family advocate. • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patientsserved on his or her assigned unit/ department. • Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/ or nurse clinician. • Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department. • Serves as a role model for staff and supportsthe hospital and nursing department's goals and strategies. • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses the data reflective of the patient'sstatus, and interpretsthe necessary information needed to identify each patient'srequirementsrelative to his or her agespecific needs.

Qualifications Education/Training • Graduate of an approved school of nursing. • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department. Licensure/Certification • Must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) within six (6) months of placement in this job or have current State of Florida RN license or valid NLC multistate RN license. • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP required for Neonatal Intensive care Unit(NICU). Experience Less than one year as a licensed registered nurse with no prior experience required.
