Providence is calling a Nurse Quality Supervisor to support our Infectious Disease and Endocrinology clinics (1.0 FTE, Days) at Providence St. Vincent Medical Office Building East Pavillion in Portland, OR.

In this position, you will:

  • Be an integral member of the clinic leadership team in bringing the professional nursing perspective and expertise to the group and upholding the standards of clinical practice.

  • Be responsible for the oversight of clinical staff performance, coaching, mentoring, developing, and implementing clinical best practices.

  • Be responsible for the oversight and supervision of clinical quality, ensuring state and federal compliance and clinical support patient care services are provided in an efficient and safe manner that is consistent with clinical best practices.

  • Provide direct patient care at top of Registered Nurse (RN) scope of practice, according to the individualized needs of the patient using the nursing process and in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.

  • Coordinate patient care activities with other members of the health care team in a collegial relationship.

  • Analyze patient data with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual and chronological maturation process.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • OR-
  • Associate nursing degree with 3 years recent RN experience

  • Current unencumbered license as a RN in the state of Oregon

  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) for Healthcare Provider

  • 3-5 years RN experience managing complex patient's

  • OR-
  • Successful completion of RN Ambulatory Residency program

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience working in an ambulatory setting
  • 3 years demonstrated experience with providing progressive leadership, clinical staff education, competency development and evaluation, staff training and performance evaluation
  • 3 years experience providing patient education

Education * Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing. * High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. License, Certification, Registration * Current Oregon and Washington RN license required. License in state where assigned required upon hire/transfer, application for license in secondary state required within 2 weeks of hire/transfer and must be obtained within 6 months. * Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required upon hire/transfer. * Primary Care Assignments: Must obtain and maintain PEARS certification within 6 months of hire/transfer unless excluded per exemption process. Additional Requirements: * Demonstrates accurate and current knowledge base specific to Endocrine patients and endocrine disorders. * Demonstrates ability to provide patient education/advice regarding the diabetic tools currently in use (e.g., insulin pens, insulin pumps, blood glucose meters). * Demonstrates advanced assessment skills for patients with endocrinology concerns. * Demonstrates ability to utilize best practices and perform according to Case Management standards levels 1-4 for large population of Endocrine patients including: * Advice and education specific to endocrine disorders. * Advanced assessment skills and knowledge in diabetes. * Positive change agent to improve client-s overall status. * Coordination of care for clients with complex health concerns transcending multiple medical specialties. * Demonstrates clinical nursing and leadership skills. * Able to type 20 words per minute. * Demonstrates effective interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. * Willingness to learn computerized information systems. * Demonstrates ability to work within teams and within a dynamic work environment. * Customer focused. Preferred Qualifications: * Previous experience with population care/case management, triage and advice. * Current or future bachelor's degree in nursing or related field. * Current Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).
