We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner to work in our Urgent Care Center. Urgent Care and pediatric experience preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential and must be available to work evening and weekend shifts. Allied Health Professionals perform a vital role in Cedars-Sinai Medical Group's commitment to deliver effective and efficient quality health care services to its enrollees. Together, the collaborative physician and Nurse Practitioner will share responsibility for the health and welfare of our members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. ASSESSMENT OF HEALTH STATUS
1.Obtains a relevant health and medical history.
2.Performs a physical examination based on age and history.
3.Performs and/or orders preventive and diagnostic procedures based on the patient's age and history.
4.Identifies health and medical risk factors.

B. DIAGNOSIS

The NP makes a diagnosis by:

  • Utilizing critical thinking in the diagnostic process

  • Synthesizing and analyzing the collected data

  • Formulating a differential diagnosis based on the history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results

The NP participates as a team member in the provision of health and medical care, interacting with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care. Maintains accurate, legible and confidential records, participates in continuous quality review, including systematic review of medical and other records and treatment plans on a periodic basis, maintains current knowledge by attending continuing education programs.

COLLABORATING PHYSICIAN(S)

It is the responsibility of the NP to keep the collaborating physician(s) informed of his/her practice and to seek assistance, refer the patient to the physician or obtain further instructions from the physician whenever doubt exists or prudent medical practice dictates (See Collaborating Physician(s) Policy and Procedure).

STANDARDIZED PROCEDURE PROTOCOLS

The NP and the collaborating physician(s) will utilize The Standardized Procedure Protocols developed and designed to describe the steps of medical care for given patient situations/diagnosis/treatment: they are to be followed in the care and treatment of patients (See Standardized Procedure Protocols Policy and Procedure). The NP is responsible for participating in the establishment/review/revision of the Standardized Procedure Protocols.

The Standardized Procedure Protocols will be utilized in the evaluation of the care and services provided by the NP.

PRESCRIBING MEDICATIONS

The NP must maintain a current Furnishing Number and a DEA. All prescriptions not included in the NP Furnishing Formulary shall be authorized by the collaborative physician.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The NP will conduct all interactions with CSMG physicians, patients, visitors, employees or any other individual, with courtesy, respect and dignity. The NP will refrain from conduct that may be reasonably considered offensive to others or disruptive to the workplace or patient care. This includes the use of profanity, sexual comments or images, racial or ethnic slurs, gender-specific comments or any comments that would offend someone on the basis of his or her age, race, color, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, ancestry, physical or mental handicap.

Qualification Requirements/Preferences:

Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses with specialized advanced education and clinical competency to provide health and medical care for diverse populations in a variety of primary, acute and long term care settings.

The Nurse Practitioner must have the following education and training:
1.Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the Board of Registered Nursing.
2.Current unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license issued by the State of California.
3.Clinical nursing experience in urgent care or ER preferred.
4.Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certificate.
5.Furnishing number issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).

ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates behavior which supports the Cedars-Sinai Health System mission. Attends required orientation and training seminars.

Meets production standards within established time requirements. Work product and performance meet community standards. Demonstrates respect and positive interpersonal skills with patients, clients, the public, managers and co-workers.

Maintains confidentiality of patient care and business matters. Observes time, attendance and dress code standards. Protects the safety of others and of the physical plant and equipment, following institution policies for fire, safety and infection control regulations.
