Responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients through collaboration with a designated physician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat patients with common acute conditions, illnesses, or minor trauma in collaboration with a physician

  • Collaborate with the physician in the health care of patients with chronic illnesses.

  • Educate patients and/or families about preventive care, positive behaviors, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.

  • Maintain legible, accurate, and confidential medical records.

  • Document all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations

  • Order diagnostic tests as appropriate.

  • Prescribe medications within scope of license.

  • Facilitate evaluation of records by physician(s) according to protocols and receive and implement constructive directives.

  • Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, self-care skills, and use of prescribed medical treatments and medications through education and counseling.

  • Regular attendance to ensure efficient operations

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in patient flow through patient triage and other nursing duties as needed

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


  • Current licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP) in Adult or Family

  • Ability to learn and utilize Electronic Medical Records system

  • Ability and willingness to work weekend and holiday work as required

  • Flexible, self-motivated individual who is dedicated to quality patient care and customer satisfaction

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Works effectively in a team environment

  • Projects a positive image and has a Patients First attitude

  • Prior experience in primary/urgent care or internal medicine practice is desirable

Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The Primary Care Physician is expected to demonstrate advance competencies and skills in assessing the physical and psychological status of patients. He/she will provide comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to veterans in the Primary Care team setting. As a Physician you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill and injured veterans. Duties include documenting observations, assessments, chronically and acutely and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with other health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes; providing a full range of care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems; and accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of assigned grade. Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Schedule may change based on needs of the service (Can be discussed during the interview with the manager).
