Overview

Purpose Statement/Position Summary:

The NP/PA II will be a member of the hospitalist team managing care for in-patient feeding disorder and general pediatrics patients. Their responsibilities include obtaining age specific comprehensive histories, performing complete physical examinations, establishing diagnosis including relevant differential diagnoses, establishing, and communicating treatment plans, obtaining, and evaluating required diagnostic laboratory tests and imaging, and educating patient and families regarding medical care in a compassionate manner.

The NP/PA II works autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems. They function in a collegial and clinically enhanced role as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. This position requires a strong clinical acumen, excellent communication skills, and a passion working with children and their families..

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:

Nurse-Practitioners: 2-years experience as a nurse practitioner.

Physician-assistants: 2-years experience as a physician-assistant.

Pediatric clinical experience as NP/PA preferred.

Will consider nurse-practitioner OR physician-assistant with 1-2 years of experience, with pediatric background.

Education/Licensure/Certifications:

Nurse-Practitioners:

1.Master of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited graduate school of nursing approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for "hold out as Nurse Practitioner" as defined in Nurse Practice Act, Business and Professional Code

Physician-assistants:

1.Graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

Licensure:

Nurse-Practitioners:

1.Current, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license required.

2.Current, unrestricted California Nurse-Practitioner license required.

3.NP Furnishing license required.

4.DEA required.

Physician-assistants:

1.Current PA license and DEA required.

Certification:

Nurse-Practitioners:

1.PNP Acute-care Certification OR PNP Dual (AC/PC) Certification preferred.

2.FNP with post-graduate Pediatric Acute-care Certification preferred.

3.Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

4.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.

Physician-Assistants:

1.Certification in the State of California required as a Physician Assistant by a nationally accredited Physician Assistant organization.

2.Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

3.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.

Pay Scale Information

$137,072.00-$246,854.00

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
