Nurse Practitioner (FT ) - Transplant Unit -Livingston-Nj

JOB SUMMARY:

The Transplant NP practices as an independent care provider in collaboration with the transplant physicians, including the Chief of Transplant, primarily on the inpatient Renal & Pancreas Transplant Unit and, as requested, in the Transplant Short Stay Unit and out-patient settings, Pre- and Post-Transplant settings. Their practice is characterized by comprehensive health assessments and management of patients with acute and/or chronic renal disease. The NP shall have clinical responsibilities inclusive of transplant candidates, living donors, post-transplant patients and patients enrolled in clinical research trials. Obtains patient histories and performs physical examinations. Writes admitting orders, routine orders and daily progress notes as indicated. Acts as liaison between Cooperman Barnabas and all referring dialysis centers, community agencies and referring physicians. Ensures continuity of care through effective communication and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in all areas of the transplant department. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provides age specific treatment. Serves as a resource for nursing and ancillary staff with regard to patient and disease management. Facilitate practices that are in compliance with PRO-NJ and JCAHO requirements.

4 - 10-hour Day Shifts, with 2 weekends (2 Saturdays/2 Sundays) a month coverage required

EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner in the state or New Jersey Board Certified Nurse Practitioner in the state of New Jersey.

• Masters or Doctorate prepared in Nursing from an accredited program,

• Basic Life Support from American Heart Association Certified
