Hennepin County's Red Door Clinic is seeking a Nurse Practitioner. This position will provide sexual health care services including comprehensive HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment services; family planning; and HIV prevention services within a multidisciplinary team of medical providers including nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical assistants, and community health specialists. Location and hours:

This position is located at the Public Health Clinic at 525 Portland Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and once the clinic resumes evening hours, one evening shift a week from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. will be required. No weekend, overnight, or holiday shifts are required.

In this position you will:

  • Provide HIV prevention and sexual health care services that include evaluation, testing and treatment for STIs; testing for HIV; and evaluation of vaginitis and acute cystitis.

  • Provide family planning services including long-acting reversible contraception.

  • Provide HIV prevention methods including non-occupational post exposure prophylaxis and pre-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP/PrEP).

  • Perform lab work including gram stains, wet preps, blood draws, and other labs in CLIA certified on-site lab under direction of lab technician specialist.

  • Provide sexual health education, risk reduction counseling, consultation, and advocacy based on patient needs.

  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of observations, interventions, relevant care plan, referral, and follow up, using Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR).

  • Work with a diverse, interdisciplinary team to deliver sexual health services, develop team goals, performance outcomes, and effective referral coordination.

  • Participate in community partnership by:

  • Educating healthcare providers about culturally competent sexual healthcare.

  • Attending periodic outreach testing events.

  • Presenting at community partner's settings regarding topics of interest related to sexual health care.

Need to have:

  • One of the following:

  • Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota and National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (CNP).

  • Possession of a valid license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota.

Nice to have:

  • Working with diverse populations in race, ethnicity, age, gender, and sexual orientation.

  • Providing sexual health care services including family planning services and sexually transmitted disease testing, treatment, and prevention.

  • Delivering services to patients using a harm reduction model.

  • Working with Epic or another Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Ability to:

  • Foster an environment that recognizes and respects cultural, behavioral, and socioeconomic differences.

  • Counsel, instruct, and advocate for socially complex individuals.

  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of public health and HIV/STI prevention programs.

  • Work independently and collaborate with colleagues to provide quality care.

  • Set goals and objectives to achieve results and initiative to accomplish work.

  • Communicate effectively in verbal, written, and electronic communications.

  • Adapt and problem-solve in a changing clinic practice environment.
