MDH, Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville MD

Main Purpose of Job

This recruitment is for one full-time position and one part-time position.

Both positions will function at the full performance level as a Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric MDH by providing primary health care and psychiatric care to patients within the Springfield Hospital Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric.

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric classification or Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1.Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.
2.Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification may be subject to call and, therefore, may be required to provide the agency with a telephone number at which they can be reached.

The first position is for the Day Shift (7 am to 3:30 pm), which is also required to rotate shifts as needed. The second position is for the Evening Shift (3 pm to 11:30 pm). The main purpose of this position is to function at the managerial level, providing the coordination and supervision of all facility nursing care services and issues, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing and reporting to the Nursing Administrative Team. This position will be responsible for ensuring that nursing care is delivered consistently in accordance with Nurse Practice Act standards, MDH, facility and departmental guidelines. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university. Experience: Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two (2) years in a psychiatric setting, and one year in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity. Notes: 1. A Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the option for which application is made (psychiatric) may be substituted for the education and experience requirements. 2. Six years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include three years in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity in the option for which application is made (psychiatric) may be substituted for the Education and Experience requirements. 3.
