2.Initiate consultations.
3.Manage minor illnesses.
4.Stabilize long-term illness.
5.Order laboratory and other diagnostic tests. (GFR/Pregnancy…)
6.Prescribe/order medications, treatments and devices based on the medication/device protocol jointly developed with a collaborating MD.
7.NP/PA reports directly to the Director of Breast Imaging and collaborates daily with the Radiologists on scope of practice.
8.NP/PA is to see patients in the Cape Cod Hospital Breast Care Center.( or other areas of the hospital such patients may be placed)
9.NP/PA is to keep the Radiologist informed of all patients being seen so appropriate physician review and involvement can be insured.
To participate in patient follow up and phone call program as assigned or requested.
NP/PA will work collaboratively and cooperatively with all physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff members of the hospital.
Assures that the patient's rights, as identified by the institution, are met.
Assures that the patient environment is correctly maintained and administer patient care in accordance with safety regulation
Communicates all data relevant to patient and/or family needs to the health care team.
Coordinates patient care with other health team member by: Documenting and communicating data for patients with common, well-defined diagnosis/patient problem to provide continuity of care.
Functions as an advocate for patients and families.
Contributes to the nursing profession through participation in community activities.
Functions as liaison between community organizations and the institution for area of clinical practice.
The supervising physician will review all the written notes and physical exams of the advanced practice staff with recommendations for diagnostic imaging work up and interventional biopsy.
The supervising physician will participate in the evaluation of the advanced practice nurses.
The advanced practitioner will participate in a quarterly RX review as mandated by MA law.
Challenges current working practices; identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization's culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING (NP):
Graduation from a program for nurse practitioner approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) of the American Medical Association
Currently licensed as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
US Department of Justice and Massachusetts' Controlled Substance DEA Registrations are required for prescribing practitioners
Breast Health Clinical Navigator (BHCN) certification within 18 months of hire
Current BLS
At least six (6) months practice as a Nurse Practitioner of FNP, ANP, WHENP, preferred
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING (PA):
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant's Training Program
Currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
US Department of Justice and Massachusetts' Controlled Substance DEA Registrations are required for prescribing practitioners
Breast Health Clinical Navigator (BHCN) certification within 18 months of hire
Current BLS
At least six (6) months practice as a Physician Assistant in specialty preferred
