Job Description

Cardiovascular First Assist Nurse Practitioner or Physician assistant

  • Practice scope includes adult cardiothoracic surgery - CABG, valve surgery, TAVR - as well as major / minor vascular surgery including EVAR and open aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, etc.
  • Opportunity to develop sub practice based on clinical interests.
  • Comprehensive practice that includes surgery, clinic, and hospital rounding, allowing 1stAssist APP to practice full scope.
  • Experienced Advanced Practice Providersin Cardiovascular Surgery ispreferred - includingsurgical first-assisting, Endoscopic Vein Harvest (EVH), and perioperative patient care - but will consider other surgically-trained APPs who want to experience the professional satisfaction of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.

  • Education Requirements:

    Master's degree in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
    Training on surgical first assist and EVH required.


    Current Illinois physician assistant ornurse practitionerlicensure or able to attain

The nature of the position allows the Nurse Practitioner the opportunity to apply his/her medical training across a broad spectrum of clinical areas, thus avoiding the narrow focus of many other medical environments. In addition, the continuity of care is inherent in this setting as the Nurse Practitioner follows each patient through every step of the patient's recovery. Job Requirements: At MPAC, we're looking for nurse practitioners with strong interpersonal skills. In addition to providing care for patients in a dedicated facility, the Nurse Practitioner must be able to build trust and rapport with facility personnel and attending physicians. He/she will need to effectively communicate in multiple settings; such as, bedside family consultations, phone calls and texts to physicians, and informal training with nursing staff.
