Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's degree required.

    Master's degree in NP program or post Master's NP program. As of January 1, 2005, all new NP graduates must have a master's degree. National certification required after January 1, 2000.

    Continuing education is mandatory for recertification and for continuing regulatory recognition to practice in the state. PA or ANP/ACNP applicants accepted.

  • Experience: One to three years of experience working in a inpatient setting. Experienced applicants preferred.

  • Licensure/certifications/registration: Current Adult or Acute NP license in appropriate state, registry w/state medical board, current DEA registry and BLS required.

    ACLS required prior to start date. PA or NP applicants accepted.

  • Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.

    Ability to work with management team and physicians; demonstrated customer service skills, interpersonal skills and communication skills. PA or ANP/ACNP applicants accepted.

VIEW JOBS 1/7/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-07T00:00 The University of Virginia Health System, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care is seeking to hire multiple Critical Care Nurse Practitioners to staff the intensive care unit at the Culpeper Medical Center located in Culpeper Virginia. This team of Nurse Practitioners will provide 24/7 in-house coverage of the Culpepper ICU with the support of UVA Critical Care board certified Physicians. The team will be expected to diagnose, treat, and manage disease, perform procedures, order and interpret diagnostic tests, speak with patients/families about their conditions, and work well within a multidisciplinary care system. The nurse practitioner is expected to have a comprehensive knowledge of acute/critical care conditions, diagnostics, and treatments. Assess and evaluate vague or ill-defined symptoms in adolescents and adults. * Develop a plan of care based on assessment, which includes prescribing appropriate medications and treatments, providing follow-up care, and evaluating effectiveness of care. * Analyze the multiple effects of pharmacologic agents, including over-the-counter preparations and folk remedies. * Diagnose commonly occurring acute and chronic, multi-symptom health problems. * Promote self-care by adolescent and adult patients. * In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
