Your mission:

Under the direction of physicians, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) Nocturnist provides comprehensive care to patients requiring hospitalization. The Nurse Practitioner will chart medical history, assess health status, diagnose any potential issues and work with physicians and other health professionals to provide high-quality care. In collaboration with the health care team, the nurse practitioner will provide a continuity of care to patients in the inpatient setting to achieve optimal outcomes. Continually assists physicians to maximize patient volume and acts as a liaison by monitoring and communicating with high risk patients, formulates treatment and education plans for the patient as directed by the physician.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides comprehensive patient assessments including ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests; diagnosis; prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies in the inpatient setting.

  • Participates in short-term and long-term planning of patient care with members of the patient's healthcare team.

  • Consults with physician appropriately regarding patient care issues and concerns.

  • Triages and manages ED and direct admissions for the Hospitalists group. Responds to ED pages. Coordinates patient admission and discharge planning, as well as the transition to outpatient care.

  • Demonstrates productivity and initiative by organizing patient care, delegating to appropriate staff, prioritizing work load and seeking opportunities to improve staff/patient education.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing and maintain board/association certification

  • Licensed by the State of Missouri as a Registered Nurse to practice as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. DEA license, helpful.

  • 4 years of experience as NP in hospitalists setting, Strongly preferred

  • Current BLS required

  • High level of autonomy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional patient-centered care mentality
