Women's Health Advanced Practitioner Role Scope
The women's health nurse practitioner, midwife, or physician assistant provides care in an ambulatory clinic setting which is located inside a rural hospital. Responsibilities include delivering primary health care to women throughout all stages of life, obstetric care including prenatal and post-partum, sexual and reproductive health, and family planning. The advanced practitioner will assist in helping to grow and promote women's health services in the community and provide access to women in need of OB/GYN care as well as other potential healthcare needs. The WHNP works collaboratively with the OB/GYN physician in determining caseload and daily operations in the clinic. Additional responsibilities include:
Provide primary care to patients, performing history and physical exams, evaluating patient's primary complaint, coordinating care for referrals, understanding their social and economic status, ordering and analyzing diagnostic tests, screening mental health. Uses language interpretive services consistently with patient whose primary language is not English.
Documents in the electronic record; creates care plans and collaborates with multidisciplinary plans; documents with accuracy, provides comprehensive assessments and has timely completion of outstanding documentation.
Adherence to medical staff by-laws, policies, rules and regulations. Works within scope of practice and under supervision of physician as required by hospital policy. Collaborates well with other health care providers, women's health practice coordinator, nurses and other support staff.
Collaborates with care delivery team, engages with process improvement and innovative initiatives to improve the experience within the Women's Health Center.
Schedule: Days Monday through Friday with no call.

Women's Health Advanced Practitioner Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Certified Nurse Midwife, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant Master's program
Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Certified Nurse Midwife, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant in the state of Connecticut
Certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner (WHNP), or Physician Assistant (PA)
1-2 years of women's health or OB/GYN experience highly preferred
Bilingual, Spanish, highly preferred
