Inova Children's Hospital is a 226-bed, full-service children's hospital devoted to the healthcare of infants, children and adolescents in the Northern Virginia area. The newly expanded facility opened in 2016, providing state-of-the-art technology, research and teaching innovations, and a dedicated team approach to patient care. As Northern Virginia's only pediatric tertiary care center, the Inova Children's Hospital provides the highest level of care for pediatric patients, in a technologically advanced, yet child-friendly environment, close to home.

Our Pediatric hospitalists provide 24/7 in-house coverage of the pediatric medical unit, daily coverage of the newborn nursery (no delivery attendance), and consultative services to our surgical colleagues. Our pediatric hospitalist program seeks afull-time Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to assist in caring for inpatientgeneral pediatric patients. They will join 24 dedicated pediatric hospitalists in their endeavor to provide expert care of children from birth to young adulthood. This will entail working side by side with hospitalists in covering general pediatric inpatients with daily bedside rounding, performing H&P's, completing priority discharges, performing consults, and covering an "uncovered" service when the resident census is high. There may be opportunities to participate in newborn nursery care as well.

The qualified applicant is able to:

  • communicate and coordinate care for patients with medical needs from multiple sub-specialties
  • liaise with case managers, nurses and other healthcare staff to ensure the highest quality of care
  • encourage and participate in an outstanding patient experience
  • willing to participate in quality improvement initiatives

Requirements
1.Master's degree in Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner studies from an accredited program
2.VA RN/APRN License
3.Pediatric Acute Care Certification
4.BLS and PALS certification desired

Requirements Experience: Progressive clinical nursing experience Three to five years of clinical nursing experience as a RN or one or more years experience as an RN or NP in a designated specialty. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors in Nursing and Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, or certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing.
