About this Career Opportunity:

A nurse practitioner helps with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations. They can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Educates patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments, conduct physicals, order tests and serve as a patient's primary healthcare provider.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate new patient consultation and health history review

  • Perform physical examinations and screenings of patients

  • Order and administer tests including bloodwork

  • Review and interpret test results

  • Diagnoses health problems

  • Detect changes in patient condition

  • Administer medications

  • Operate medical equipment

  • Recommend further treatment options or future appointments if needed

  • Provide referrals to other practitioners when necessary

  • Provide after-care/ongoing care information and resources to patients

  • Ensure patient records are kept up to date including test results, immunizations, condition changes, etc.

  • Deliver quality, physician-level care while complying with company policies, safety regulations, and productivity metrics

  • All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Education:

  • Master's degree in nursing. Current state nurse practitioner license required. 5+ years nursing experience required

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge base of HIPAA and OSHA required. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written. Patient, compassionate nature. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and other medical staff. Proficiency in medical instruments and equipment Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems preferred. Prescriptive authorization required.

Work Requirements:

  • Active unrestricted license to practice in TX. Certificate/license as a Nurse Practitioner to meet individual state practice act. Current DEA registration if applicable.

Identify actual and potential health needs based on medical, mental/emotional, financial, and social factors. Make referrals to appropriate social or medical agencies and practitioners. * Develop and implement proactive patient-centered care plan with the assistance of other disciplines within the care team. * Provide compassionate anticipatory guidance through decline due to chronic disease and provide high quality palliative care focused on the goals of the patient and family. * Prescribe and dispense medications and drugs to suitable patients. Initiate and/or continue medical regimes for new patients. Chart treatment records and monitor results. * Develop and maintain relationships with lay and professional caregivers, including care facilities, to assure patient experience excellent continuity of care and orders are implemented appropriately. * Educate patients and families on goal-based, appropriate preventative care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medications and treatment. * Manage the most complex, at-risk patients, requiring a higher level of responsibility. * Cover after-hours call consultation. * Participate in collaborative treatment with other medical and mental health professionals and technical staff. * Participate in staff and professional conferences. * Assist in the development of policies and procedures. * Assess and counsel patients regarding preventive care needs.
