Nurse Practitioner-Emergency Department

JOB SUMMARY The Nurse Practitioner practices medicine in a clinic or hospital setting, under the direction and responsible supervision of a Licensed Physician (MD or DO). The Nurse Practitioner evaluates and monitors health status, performs diagnostic and therapeutic services, provides age appropriate education and counseling for disease prevention, risk reduction and health maintenance and coordinates referrals for specialty care or social service support. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience: N/A Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed or eligible for licensure with the appropriate Minnesota State licensing agency. Certified or eligible for certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a national professional nursing organization as a CNP in Family. Maintenance of the continuing medical education requirements of a nursing national professional organization. Eligibility for registration as a Nurse Practitioner in Wisconsin may be required. BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or MilitaryTraining Network. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) within one (1) year of hire into position. WRITING - Advanced: Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
